I was washing whites last night and noticed that the machine wasn't putting out hot water. I was wondering if the hot water hose's screen could be clogged or if it would be the switch that was bad.

    Could it be anything else?

(yes the hot water heater is putting out hot water)

Valve leading to the washing machine possibly? Or the hoses are reversed?

I've never worked on a washing machine, at least not a modern one, but then again, I'm a cheapskate, I only wash clothes in cold water. This leaves me more money for guns! [:D]

Hot water valve closed (at the wall)
    Screen blocked with crud
Solenoid not operating (either not getting a signal or defective coil)

either the valve in the wall is bad, The screens on the washer are plugged, Or the valve on the washer is bad.

Rob, remove the hot and cold water hoses from the back of the machine. Use some Lime Away to clean the deposits from the small screens. After the screens are clean, you can tip the machine over and pour Lime Away into each hose connection and turn on the machine. Once for hot, once for cold. Next, reconnect hoses and flush out machine by running a couple of tubloads of water only through it. This should fix it short of a bad water pump.

So if the hot water screen is clogged, the cold water will compensate when it fills up?

    Ok, I figured it out.

Y'all wanna know what's cool about stackable washers and dryers? The temperature control for the dryer is RIGHT next to the temperature control for the washer..... (and they ain't labeled too clearly)
