Maybe that's why my Hugo DX is still in Mint Condition. (the DX model means it has a rear window defroster...keeps your hands warm while you push it).0 -

I've let my buddy drive my Charger. I am not really concerned about it being totalled - that is what insurance is for. I am more concerned with getting a door ding. So far just one, in my garage from the door of the Expedition from my daughter. 0 -
i have let someone drive my car twice, both where totaled, never again, i had a friend who loaned another friend his 69 boss mustang he drove through 6 yards before a telephone stopped him, needless to say it was totaled 0 -

All jokes aside...never let an uninsured motorist drive your vehicle. If he doesn't have insurance (or a pot to pee in) and he's driving YOUR car and HE hurts or kills someone else...guess who the claim/lawsuit will be against?0 -

Hi Slipgate,
Oh I'm sure you made certain he's got a license...but my daughter found out the hard way what happens if you lets someone who doesn't own a car himself -and thus has no insurance- drive your vehicle and have an accident. For that matter, I wasn't really directing my advice to you personally or about your friend, only a general comment about a detail a lot of people don't consider when loaning out their cars.

When a friend asks for a small loan, I just give it to him and ask that he repay it to the Salvation Army.
I have never tried to find out if any of them did.
That keeps the friendship.

Isn't it interesting how you can drive a car for forty years without getting a scratch, loan it to a friend(or a brother) and get it back in pieces before the day is over?
It took some doing, but I finally learned. My philosophy now is..If he has to borrow a car, he isn't responsible enough to drive one. If he was, he would have his own.0
