Shipping a gun today

Went to UPS to ship MVP's mosin Nagant today and they wanted to give me a ration of "DOODOO" over me shipping a gun. This was the first time they ever did this.

So I walked out and went to FEDEX! They had no problem at all as long as one of the 2 parties was an FFL (which of course I was armed with MVP's FFL copy).

I doubt if I will use UPS again. It is bad when a customer knows the rules better than the company!

    Should have used the good old U.S. mail and had it delivered by a uniformed agent of the U.S. government. Less money too.

    does ayone know about shipping back to factory for warranty work am i goin to need a ffl signed copy for this or will ups or fed ex ship with out?

    My local post office was not sure if I as a private person could go through them. They were going to make some calls for me so they will know for sure next time.

    UPS is EXTREMELY rough with their packages as well.

    They can be ruff on them.

    I just allways tried to go with UPS because I was a union truck driver and UPS is union.

    You know how that is![;)]

    According to Fed Ex regulations, ALL firearms must be shipped priority next day air. Very expensive. "Firearms must be shipped via FedEx Priority Overnight service. Upon presenting the package for shipment, the person tendering the shipment to FedEx is required to notify the FedEx employee who accepts the package that the package contains a firearm."

    The clerk told me that only handguns need to go overnight, and let mine go ground. And I did inform them that it was a firearm.

    That quote is from the current Fed Ex regulations. Your clerk was wrong (I have verified this with the Fed Ex legal department), and if a problem arises he would probably say he misunderstood you or you did not inform him. It is up to the person using the shipper to know their regulations. Ignorance is no excuse.

    Go to usps.com, and print the regs for yourself. I'm am real lucky- MY post office is staffed by intelligent humans. But we are out in the country![:p]

    That ain't no lie the UPS driver literly threw my new Dell out of the truck onto the pavement right before my eyes...I called Dell belore I opened the box. Credit to Dell not a Scratch and three yrs later still working perfectly... I demanded fed-ex when I bought my boy a laptop when he got home from Iraq...

    From you to the factory and back to your door; no paperwork (the gun never transferred ownership). You can even ship in and out of the country without doing the import/export customs BS (at least on the US end) if it's for warranty work.

    That was my experience. S&W paid shipping so I used who they picked: Fedex to them and UPS back to me (I think UPS won't accept a hangun from an individual). Had to go overnight priority, by law I think but I'm not sure.

    I dont have any problem with them in my area,but this is a very gun friendly area even tho it is northern kalifornia.
