.. BIGGEST black BEAR I?ve EVER seen - eye to eye!
The other day I mentioned that my God Son had a quick confrontation with a big black bear, in Ocala, Florida. Phil's the son of my first (ever) girlfriend, Barb, who was an `older woman' of seven, when I was a young whippersnapper of five, back in `50. [:D]
Anyway, the other night `Phip' heard what he thought was a cat clambering around in the trash cans, out back of his house. The entire backyard is completely enclosed with a 6' wooden fence.
Phil walked into the backyard, in his PJ's, with only a flashlight and the determination to quickly run off some old tomcat!
When he got to the cans the "biggest black bear I've EVER seen" stood up and looked him square in the eyes!
One of them hollered like stuck pig and the other one let out a ferocious growl. [:0]
Phil rocketed back to the house and the bear streaked in the opposite direction, across the yard and blasted through the back fence!
The next morning was Phil able to manage a shaky laugh - according to Barb. - and to me, he said, "I wasn't really scared, Uncle Scotty - just a little startled![B)]"
... would have scared/startled the crap out of ME!
I certainly won't pass up the opportunity to razz the heck out of him when I see him in a month, or so.
Hole in the fence where the blackie blasted through!

A closer shot of the new bear-exit.

Claw marks on a board - that bear was seriously underway!

Some bear hair left behind!

Would you have made such a big deal about this if it were a caucasian bear? I don't think so. I bet you wouldn't have even put the term in the title.
Shows what a racist thug you are. [;)]0 -
I guess you're right - had it been a POLAR bear I would probably have asked him in for a
night cap and we would have spent the rest of the night talking about BLACK and BROWN bears.
... never would have thought about that! Thanks for bringing that to my racist attention!

If it had been a white bear, it truly would have been large!
Unless it were just a little Kermode bear.0 -
