Maybe. Looks like it was a proxy bid(note date of their bid was before yours). Don't know what the bid increment's were. Their final price may have been higher than $75. Even so, it would have had to beat the $75. so it probably would have cost you at LEAST 30cents more. Feel better? 0 -
That's the thing about auctions, online or live. While it is easy to think that one could have had something for just a little more, there is no way to know how much the winning bidder was willing to pay. I go to a lot of live auctions and there are times when I fall into this trap and regret not going higher. I think the safest tactic to follow on an online auction, assuming there is no shilling going on, is to make your first bid the maximum amount you think you want to pay and let others bid up to it. If, towards the end of the auction you want to bump your bid up a bit, do so, and it will send the message that you are serious and could scare the other bidders off. I could write a book about auction what-ifs. Best thing is to let it go and move on. 0 -
