Given the methodology they used, ie, none at all, we could just as easily ASSume that the following are also to blame for the rise in police officer deaths:

    - The declining housing market
    - A Democratic-controlled Congress
    - High oil prices
    - Gold reaching over $600 an ounce
    - The increasing casualties in Iraq
    - Toyota replacing GM as the number one auto manufacturer in the world

All of these events occurred at around the same time that officer deaths were increasing.

So OBVIOUSLY we need to shore up the housing market, get the Democrats out of Congress, reduce oil prices, reduce gold prices, stop the number of people dying in Iraq, and buy more GM cars and trucks.

I'd vote for the Democrat-controlled Congress. Of all the reasons, that's the one that makes the most sense to me.

"A person who's willing to commit some sort of aggravated crime with a firearm is certainly willing to be involved with a police officer using that same firearm," he said. "So we're seeing some very tragic incidents where people that have really no reason to have a firearm at their disposal ... now have firearms in their hands again, and they're using them in some very violent acts"

Call me a nit-picker, but I'd imagine that committing 'some sort of aggravated crime' is, technically, a reason to have a firearm. I mean, sure, it's an illegal reason...

I just get tired of having to explain my guns to idiots.

"Why do you have seven handguns?"

"Because, Alice, that's all I can afford right now"
