The end of 8MM Milsurp? + Wolf price jumps
I went to Widener's web page and noticed the 8MM Yugo had jumped 25% without notice. I can't find it anywhere but a couple other places and they are much higher than the new higher price.
I emailed Widener's and they (I also phoned Classic) say there is none to be had here or anywhere else.
They are saying as far as they can tell 8MM is done as milsurp.
Since I know there is some stored in Serbia I must conclude the UN has completed its backroom deals that will shut down all Milsurp ammo sales. I had heard SA has agreed to this as well
Widener's (understandably) had no comment on political aspects just that they could not get any 8MM anywhere and they have looked.
7.62X39
The case price (as low as I have found) for 7.62X39 has jumped from $149.00 to $165.00 with Wolf's announced 10% increase from 124gr FMJ. This also at Widener's (I have no loyalties but Widener's has always had the best prices when I checked all the sites in almost every case)
The 124 HP is still at $149.00 but that will change any day now.
I would (and have) ordered double,

To each his own but that, IMO, is not worth shooting for free
Besides, that also will be gone, there is no more of that other than what is on hand so if you like it stock up.

Considering the 8MM is over 100 years old and the round is not a popular military round today; and there is a finite amount of milsurp available for us to burn up plinking at tin cans.
If you buy 5,000 rounds of 8MM and a "new" M48 or 42/47 you will run out of ammo and have a worn out gun at about the same time.

My bet is that the Mauser will outlast the ammo in that scenario.0 -
That Romanian ammo is funky! It smells funny, and leaves a bit of crud in the barrel. I like it! Some guys dislike it, to each his own.
Three inch groups with a 112 year old rifle, and 8 cents a shot, I am not complaining.

I was chating with a major National Ammo importer and they recomended I buy all the 8mm ammo I want right now because there will be no more.

TO just guess, I'd say it will be like the norinco AK's, theres plenty of it on the market, so it will stay under say 150 per case for a year or two, then whats left will go way way up. 0 -
I can remember going to the gun shows 4 years ago, that Turkish 8mm ammo was stacked up like cordwood.
One bandoleer of 70 rounds, $4.
By the case, it was almost free.
It was hot, but pretty good ammo. Fairly accurate, depending on the year of manufacture.
Today, all gone.
I did get one case of ten bandos, $35. That was just six months ago.
Now, Auf Wiedersehen.

If 5K is the number of ammo per gun then I need to buy big time.
I have six 24/47s, four Kar98ks (one sniper) and two VZ-24s so I guess I need 60K of ammo????
I can load for my 8MM. Heck; I unload the 8 milsurp now and reload it light for a more pleasurable shoot. With prices climbing it is no more to just buy the new bullets and load them.
I can also make 8MM cases from 3006 which are more than fine for iron sight blasting go time shootin.
Still, I like having a couple tins hidden somewhere where Hilary can't find them.
The bigger concern to me is I know darn well there is more 8MM as well as other calibers that are no longer available to us.
Time to stock up on everything. They don't eat notin!!!

It could not possibly be UN resolutions eliminating Milsurp sales to civilians. No, they would never infringe on American gun owners and shooting.
It must be Wulfmann trying to pump up sales!
It couldn't be the Federal government they would never do anything to infringe on our having as much as we want in types and power of ammo. They are always on our side.

Sorry, I do not own stock in ammo companies, nor do I work for or promote in anyway any product unless I am relaying my personal views as a consumer.
8MM will soon be unavailable to consumers as milsurp. Just passing the word. I didn't make the word.
Since Widener's has the 124gr HP for $149.00 a case or about $168.00 shipped (That would mean $84.00 per each 500) if you believe that is cheaper than your quote your public school was even woster than the one I gone to!
However, notice at Wideners all other 7.62X39 has already jumped to $165.00 a case before shipping as their inventory is less than the HP so expect the HP to jump any day.
My relaying this is imply an alert to save some money on our end rather than wait and put more money into the dealer's pocket.
Hmmmmmm; Frogbert, do "YOU" work for the ammo dealers????

This sounds like fuzzy math to me.
Perhaps I was not clear. I meant I desire lower ammo prices and want to get some advance notice when something I use is going up in price.
I did not mean I felt these prices were too low and I want to know where I can spend more on the same product.
If I start to do things like that I know to ask Frogbert!
