My best friend is a PA State Trooper Sgt and they are going to Glock 37s in 45 Gap, they now carry DAO 40S&W Berettas. So whenever I go home, we get together and have been shooting his personal glock 38 quite a bit, so he gets used to it. It will be his off duty. I personally don't like Glocks that much, but the caliber itself seems fine. The recoil feels a bit less than the 45 ACP, and it is accurate. Georgia State Patrol and New York State Police have also adopted the Glock in 45 GAP. That is 3 large police agencies, so the caliber will probably stick around.

Rick Hacker has an article called "Last-Call Loads" in the April 2007 issue of Guns & Ammo. Rick lists a number of cartridges he thinks should be discontinued. The .45 GAP is one of them (page 77).

Who's Rick Hacker and what are his pronouncements?
The 45 GAP fills an important ergonomics niche that hasn't been promoted as it could be.

Yes, I know. That is what Glock has been doing with their guns all along and now they are doing it with the caliber. And having 3 large PDs adopt the 45 Gap will work to that end. And if cops carry it, so will the general public, that is where Glock makes their money.
