I am, and I do enjoy life in Florida...but I would also enjoy life in whatever state my husband and I lived in, or whatever country....

There are things to enjoy, things to do, things to learn about every place on earth...

Dont be too cynical,....life is rather sweet IF you want it to be..

    HEy Locust...

It could be Georgia you smell burning..there are fires there too..

The only reason I said anything....was the morning news. I never said anything BAD about the state at all.....not one thing. The morning news made the comment that the "jet stream was bringing the scent from the wild fires into our area" and that "the air quality was orange" (whatever THAT means.) That is when I noticed, while taking the kids to school, that I smell fire. So very odd to SMELL a fire hundreds of miles away.

    For allen and spaniel...

Was there anything about this state you enjoyed?

    Well, let's see.

    1. Summer runs from February 28th to December 1st.

    2. The state bird is the mosquito.

    3. Every American living in Florida needs to take ESL (English as a Second Language) in case they leave the state.

Seriously? I played a ton of golf when I was a kid. Got so good that I made my high school golf team. I even had a college interested in me my senior year. There are some of the world's most gorgeous golf courses in Florida.

Unfortunately, I was really never happy down there. When I left for college people were just dumbfounded as to why I would leave Florida. I'd normally ask if they'd ever been there, and the answer was always no, but that they knew it was a paradise.

The last time I was down there (three years ago), I found very little to change my mind, although the landscape had sure changed tremendously (but a few hurricanes will do that).

Right now I'm at a bit of a crossroads. I'm going to be graduating from grad school and we've decided to seriously entertain any out-of-state job opportunities. I have no real desire to leave Colorado because I literally love it here.

Contrast that to Florida, where I couldn't get out soon enough.

Again, no offense to the state that you enjoy. I'm glad you like it. It just wasn't a place I ever wanted to call home.

"There is so much here to enjoy, but it seems you are one that "has to be entertained"...

When I go somewhere I dont ask to be entertained."

That is one bizarre bit of analysis. That is the least accurate description of me that has ever been made. A guy who is flying a hang glider, or hopping freight trains across the country, or camping in the wilderness of Canada, is not asking to be entertained. He is busting his butt to find adventure. He is enjoying life at the fullest, even if he is risking his life.
A person who stands in line for an hour at Disney World is asking to be entertained.

"There are things to enjoy, things to do, things to learn about every place on earth...

Dont be too cynical,....life is rather sweet IF you want it to be.."

Thank you for your wisdom. I am writing down your sage advice on how to enjoy life. If you have any more tips for me, please send them along.

Does that mean the price of my orange juice is going up again? Must be a hot fire to burn oranges.

A person who stands in line for an hour at Disney World is asking to be entertained. Allen, Disney is good entertainment. I visit Disney's parks about 8 times a year. (I buy their annual pass and stay at their resorts with the FL resident rates). I have fond memories as a child visiting Disney with my parents. It was always the high-light of my summer vacation. There is something majical about the place.

I'm soon to be 46 and still enjoy Disney.

You know what I enjoy the most now?...seeing the twinkle in my kids' eyes as they experience Walt Disney's dream. That is priceless.

I've also been to Dollywood, over at your neck of the woods. Another majical place.

God bless Walt and Dolly for doing something for America's most valuable tresure...our children.

SURE! GREAT! Just when I retire and buy my last pickup (07
Dodge Hemi Mega Cab-old pickup is 19 yrs. old) gas is through the roof and when I might now like to spend extended time in Florida, it appears spoiled. Was there going to and coming from a millenium
Carnival cruise in '99 and was shocked. Too much like another country for me. I guess if you like the carribean you'll like Florida. The snow birds and ex-Floridians tell me the same thing as well as about Texas, Az., Ca.-shoulda been here/there in the 80s, white flight is rampant.
Oh, well, at least now I'll be able to hunt every day.......Pray fer yer grandkids.....
