HiPoint Carbine Review
Before you all rip me a new one.........[:0]
Several years ago, in 1999, I bought one of these for $200 on a whim. It came with three 10 rd mags, sling, muzzle break, and a cheap scope "Made In China". It has sat in the safe ever since.
I took it out last night to give it a try. Once I got the scope zeroed, it shot very tight groups to my surprise, even though the trigger is awful! I was pretty shocked to say the least. So, for a short time, I was pleased.
Then came the disassembly and cleaning.......
I am pretty meticulous when it comes to keeping the guns clean. This one was a PITA to get apart and figure out how to get it back together. Once cleaned and oiled, it is now back in the safe.
All in all, it functioned perfectly with Speer, 9mm practice ammo (blue box). If I never had to take it apart to clean, I'd give it a 10 for functionality. A rubber stock would help ease the kick. After about 100 rounds, the shoulder was getting tender....Awwww [B)] However, all things considered, it gets a 7.

Side Note....
Even though it has a butt-ugly stock, there is another replacement stock for it that makes it look like a Beretta Storm! I forgot who the MFG is though. I think there are extended mags as well, although they will look silly sticking far out of the grip. This carbine was introduced during the '94 ban.

no way that hipoint will last like the ruger or simliar pistol caliber carbine. good luck though! 0 -
LOL.....Got rid of my old Mini-14 for the Beretta Storm.
The 14 was very picky with magazines, and to me, the AR is superior! I have 4 AR's!
Who knows how long the Hi-Point will last.......but for the $$$, it will be fun for a while.........maybe a short while!0 -
I just looked at one the other day. There was a magazine article about those in one of the gun magazines with an aftermarket stock and the article said it made a nice inexpensive plinking carbine after the stock was added. I also noticed they have a lifetime warranty. They have it in 40 cal as well. I may buy one of each because I've got buckets of 40 and 9mm brass I can load up for some cheap plinking. 0 -

Decent carbine for the price. The after market 15 round mags from ProMag do not work in it- don't buy them. Stick to the factory 10 rounders. 0 -
You need to take these firearms for what they are worth. They are a great cheap expendable firearm. I have never cleaned mine thoroughly and have shot 2000+ rounds out of my .40 carbine with not one malfunction. Its a gun that I throw in the trunk or leave at the cabin for emergency situations...who cares if it gets dirty or ruined. Lifetime warranty no questions asked no matter if you are the original owner or 3rd owner this company will treat you the correct way.
I have had friends that sent it in for some work and they recieve it or a new gun back with some extra clips thrown in.
The handguns and carbines clips can be shared in each weapon on the newer models.

Have never had one problem with my mini 14. Never really had a problem with the Hi-point other than the fact that I just wouldn't have a 9mm in a handgun and that got me to thinking why in the world would I want a long gun in 9MM. The Hi-Point also had a very uncomfortable feel to me. I traded in my Desert Eagle on a Colt Python for that reason as well. I guess I am picky...0 -
After i got mine I did a little work on it by reducing the pressure on a spring and cleaning up the mechs with Brownells 600 grit lapping compound, it functioned real good. It makes for a neat 50 yard shooting toy.[:D][:D] 0 -
Had one for years now shot many a 9mm thru it neet little inexpencive gun,ugly as hell but so am i.Thanks Paul 0 -

I bought one a few yrs back because it was to tempting not to try for the price. It came with a muzzle break sling,laser and a two Mags. I havent regretted it yet, Ive not had any problems with it functioning and it shoots well to. 0 -

I traded for one at a gun show a couple of years ago.It shot any ammo I put in it with no problem.I took it apart to see how it was made and it looked like a cheap toy.Everything was made of plastic or pot metal but it still worked everytime the trigger was pulled.I have to agree that they are ugly but I have heard very few complaints about their function. 0 -
Still shooting my buttugly 9mms out to 200yds with no problems whatsoever! Stripped it down once so far, and won't do it ever again!
For a pile of zinc parts with a clamshell stock, it works pretty good.0
