Why no small DAO .22 magnum revolvers?
There are SA/DA snub-nose Airweights (S&W 351PD), Ultralite (Taurus 941), NAA SA mini-magnum revolvers, slightly larger NAA SA mini-magnum revolvers, SA derringers, much larger SA/DA revolvers with longer barrels (Colt, Ruger, Heritage et al), and a cadre of SA dual-cylinder revolvers with medium to long barrels (Ruger, Heritage, etc.).
Aside from the Airweight, Ultralite and larger barrel SA/DA revolvers, the rest are SA-only and use a loading gate or drop out cylinder.
So why no DAO very small, i.e. sub-snub-nose,.22 magnum revolvers with a swing out cylinder? If you know of one that NOT's an antique or a collectible, please let me know. I'm interested in something that I can shoot a lot and enjoy and possibly even carry.

Why must it be daO? The ones you mentioned--S&W and Taurus--are da/sa but nothing says you must use the hammer. Can't you have a hammer "bobbed," if you want daO? I searched Davidson's Gallery of Guns and those two, plus the little "mini-revolvers," were the only magnum .22's to show up. 0 -
The main reson companys stop making something is because they were had to sell. So if you can't find something that used to be made it's because nobody else ever wanted it. 0 -

The DAO is more of a nice-to-have for deep concealed carry and although the S&W 351PD with hammer is very light, I was hoping that there'd be a hammerless revolver even smaller than that in the .22WMR caliber AND a lot less than the $500+ the S&W model is currently fetching.

I was kind of wondering the same thing.
S&W used to make double action guns in J and K frame sizes that had cylinders for both 22LR and 22Mag. I think these in all barrel lengths would be great sellers.
S&W should get on the ball and remake a lot more of the everyday type revolvers instead of all the space gun looking creations that have been flowing out of there lately. There are still quite a few of us that like the more traditional appearing S&W revolvers.
If they would remake the model 16 in original configurations, the sales would go crazy and I doubt they could keep up with the demand.0 -
I modified my Taurus Ultralight in 17HMR by replacing the hammer with one for the "CIA" model, ground down the front sight to a mere bump, and replaced the rubber grips with smooth wood; doesn't snag on presentation, points naturally, and holds plenty of rounds.
Wouldn't do it to my 4" barrelled 941 though; it shoots more accurately WITH sights.0
