I was wondering the same thing. I saw one of those little guys packing a nice big rifle, at first I thought it was an AK but, I got a second look at it, the magazine looked different from an AK.

Artillery.
They have been killing Karens (the indigenous peoples of the Thai/Burma highlands) for a couple of decades.
