    the slow ones (sorry)

You're going to hate me for this. Check out the history of the (spell check collapse) taco bell dog. They were originally breed as food. they were traveling dinners who went with the army's and got whacked for dinner. Now why do the Chinese and other races eat cats and dogs? Because they are a source of food, besides, cats are delicious.

I remember seeing puppies in the livestock section of a market in Korea but they didn't stand out as being a particular breed.

Koreans only eat dogs that resemble Boxers. They can't have any white hair on them, either. I had dog while I was there.....expensive, but just "ok".

Many years ago, I had a conversation with an elderly Navajo man about what's good to eat on the reservation. He told me that dried corn kernels, called "chicos" are pretty good, as are the ears of dogs.
I inquired further about dogs, and he told me that,"Brown Dog Good".
We got to discussing cooking methods and other esoterica related to traditional cooking, and he told me that when you coat a dog with clay and roast it slowly in an horno (particular style of earthen oven), you can eat almost any part and think it's a steak. The ears are dried like jerky after they scrape the hair off, and they season with pepper, salt, and red chile.
Don't think I've had any yet, but I'll let you know what it's like this season during Pueblo Fiestas.

I've read something about either CHinese or Koreans importing Saint Bernards for that purpose but I think that it was a hoax perpetrated to get the average American's blood boiling (since St. Bernards are rather cute)

if they eat dogs they are not cultured. none (0) and deserve to be treated the same way that the dogs are that they are about to eat

On the contrary; it IS their culture.

These are popular treats in Mexico. Serve with rice or beans...doesn't matter.

Youngest son is in S. Korea. He sent me pictures of a trip he and some of his buddies took to a local outdoor market.

Seems the Koreans have dogs as pets and dogs as food. The buy the dogs at the market, keep them for a while (fatten them up?) and then butcher and eat them.

Seems strange. But also the Koreans are deathly afraid of ceiling fans running while they are asleep. They think it will kill them.

Not that people eat dogs, it's how they kill em that makes the meat tender and sweet. Most dogs are roasted. Then cut to fit the type of meal to be served. A good roast looks and tastes no different then beef.(most of the time better). Dogs are pets to us. Cows are holy to some people in India. To each his own.

My sister used to date this guy whose parents were missionaries in China. He live there for some time and he told me his neighbors across the alley raised German Shepherds for eating.

I truly don't have a probem with it, just because we domesticated them doesn't mean they don't taste good. In France they eat horse meat, does that mean..........well nevermind, I guess that wasn't a good example.
