Torture
Okay, I've had it will all this namby-pamby talk around the country about the horrors of turture. Waterboarding, which is a pretty mild option yet proven effective, is now seen as the New Evil.
Horse manure! I say if you have a known enemy and suspect he has info vital in wartime let's go for it. This is what he signed up for. There are some limits, of course, but give me a hand-crank field telephone, some wire and alligator clips and lets get these SOBs chirpin' like birds. They are the enemy! I'll turn the crank.
What say you?

Reading about the fuss raised about using torture on political prisoners.
In my opinion we are not playing paddy cake when it comes to our country's security. I say do whatever is necessary to protect us. The holier than thou saying it is wrong would change their minds if the results of not using any means necessary had results close to home and family.
In times of war, which is what the current situation is fast becoming, I say no holds barred. I read about earlier leaders approach was to kill the enemies familes, kids, dogs, mothers and anyone else who is or could become an enemy.
What is your view?

I dont realy know how effective that is, i think mental abuse and mind games would mess with them more. 0 -
Just tell them what you want them to say, turn the crank, and they'll say it.
What matters the truth, between friends.

I have mixed feeling on this. Now I'd do almost anything to save my family from harm! But I won't WANT to poke somebody's eyes out! I guess it's just one of those things where you have to "walk the line" on. I'd guess it happens more offend then we care to admit. I guess history will be the final judge and whether we win or not. My $0.02 anyway 0 -
Be careful when you look into the abyss, for the abyss is looking back. 0 -
Does'nt Sodium Penethol allow you to speak whatever is in your mind?
Is'nt it painless? Or does'nt it work? Is it against our Constitution also?0 -

Why are judges fighting this war, we have the Military trained to fight and get information.Keep the damn Judges out of it they have screwed us enough. If it saves one life go for it, you don't think it's a bad as cutting your head off and burning the bodies. 0 -
To make liberal, puke-ball, commie pinko, Democrat, hate america suck wipes get on board with some gentle persuation techniques, all you have to do is change the name. Lets see...how about:
Information choice, as in, Mohammed are you pro choice? You can choose talk or waterboard.
Information abortions, as in, Hmmm, Mohammed, there's some inconvenient info in that head...we'll just abort it with a waterboard.
Civil rights, as in, if you answer my questions I'll be civil. If not, well... it's your choice Mohammed.
Higher taxes, as in Mohammed, we have to squeeze some tax out of your head...just lay down over here for a few minutes...[:D]0 -

Heres a question for anyone reading this: Any current soldiers that are for torture? I don't know a single one thats why I ask. Although a lot of arm chair generals seem to be all for it.
it's a serious question.
p.s. I am not talking CIA, NSA, private contractor I mean your on the ground real, average joe soldier.
Just a question.0 -
I am a CIA, NSA, private contractor, and I'm all for it.

What are you going to tell the BG I don't believe in Waterboarding but you can cut my head off it's not as bad. BS if it could save your loved one you would do everything possible to save them. If you found out they didn't do everything they could have to save your loved one you would bitch your head off. Now when the Dems had people back in 2003 watching and learning about water boarding they didn't think it was enough to get the information to save lives. Liberal Judges and Liberals are keeping this war going and more people dyeing everyday from it. 0 -
Aint the soldiers job to extract info. Better left to those that are schooled in that line of work. If waterboarding saves 1 American life, then it is worth it. Chopping off heads is permanet and waterboarding is not. I think we should give the enemy the option ! 0 -
water boarding isnt torture. 0 -
I say if you caught the guy with a weapon in his hands or hoarding supplys for the enemy the gloves are off!If he was picked up in a sweep job then no! 0 -

One the one hand we blow them to little pieces in infrared on Youtube, on the other hand we are terribly concerned for those we torture.
Seems somewhat inconsistent.
Couldn't we say we are just killing them slow...?0 -
Marry them off to Liberal Democrapic wimmins - a couple of weeks of THAT and they'll do/tell you anything to just make it stop! ie. Barbara Streisand, Jane Fonda, etc.
... technically, THAT'S not considered torture, either!
But it's far worse.0 -

I used to think they were both hot. Course, that was back before electricity...0 -
We are at war with the Islamofascists because they are monsters that have no qualms killing for their entertainment. They'll chop off your head while singing praises to Allah.
The United States is a civilized society. We are not monsters and we value (for the most part) human life. We do not indiscriminately kill and we do not get joy from inflicting pain or torturing others.
When you torture someone, they are bound to tell you whatever you want to know in order to make the pain (or simulated drowning) stop. The information that you gain is questionable at best. The way you obtain the information is morally outrageous.
I don't wish any harm upon our soldiers. I certainly wouldn't want my family murdered by Islamofascist terrorists, especially when we had one of their buddies in custody that knows what is about to happen.
Saying that, we should be showing these monsters the right way to treat our fellow human beings, not stooping down to their level.0 -
I don't think it really matters what the public opinion is, except politicians might be interested in what we think, so they know what to say to get them elected. the media would like to keep it a hot topic to sell more newspapers.
whoever does the torturing, is going to do it anyways. or if it's made "not legal" then ship them off to where they can get tortured. so, it doesn't matter what we say.
I think there are two major points to debate, that the gov't would care about and would be valuable to us as well:
1. does it really work?
2. if we do it, should we be outraged when our enemies do it to our soldiers as well?0 -
Can you show or tell me one enemy of our's that hasn't done worse. 0 -
I've read this thread, then searched "torture" and found several others. Read them too. After giving this much thought, and considering who we are dealing with, I have come to the conclusion that we either torture the SOBs or shoot them. Maybe both. Sodium pentothol would remove the need for torture, but evan that is probably illegal.
Remember, this is not two sovereign nations at war. This is the equivalent of piracy, and we should revive the old 18th Century universal for piracy: shoot/hang upon capture. After all, we didn't make the rules for this fight; they did.0 -
It's only "torture" if someone is harmed physically to the point of REAL suffering or loss of limb.
Pentothal and Amytal are given perfunctorally whan milder techniques don't show results.
Hadji can put up with a few days' lack of sleep, some disco blaring outside, those sumptuous meals we provide, and their free koran; so why not up the ante when one of them knows something that will help us?
They will continue to saw heads off innocents, blow old people and kids up with indiscriminate use of VBIEDs, and wait for the Dumb-o-crats to take over the White House, when they will have some more allies in their fight against America.
The real answer to this burning question is to let our snipers hunt!0
