My two children learned very quickly that a police officer here is a lot different from what they were used to in England and Belgium. Both incidents involved minor traffic violations; parking in a loading zone, and avoiding a traffic signal by crossing a parking lot; and both changed their attitudes toward cops forever. There was no way I could defend the policemans' actions as much as I wanted to. Sad, but true.

    Clouder..

Yup I see that attitude all the time around here. People who think they are important than everyone else so they park where they want and don't bother reading the signs. Or they jump in a lot (which is illegal) and cut across an intersection because they feel they don't have to wait or are too impatient to wait. I have seen that in stores also, people tossing money at the clerks and saying I want $20 of gas on three (but ignoring the 10 people in line ahead of them) One clerk got them, they waited until the line was completely cleared before starting the pump, person got pissed off and came back in yelling I am late for work give me my gas. (If you are late, get up earlier)

So basically, the suggestion here is that the general public is "on the other side", the second-rate citizenry, eh?

    Old Fool,

Where did I say EMS never came to the aid of anyone? Don't be like clouder and read my words out of context. What I said was "However, I don't expect them to come to the assistance to a police officer." What I was referring to was not their job performance. What I was referring to was I don't expect them to stand up and testify in court. I don't expect them to come forward and provide a LEO's widow or child assistance. I don't expect them to donate their time or money to an LEO or their family when in need. If they do then that is great, but it isn't something to depend on. An LEO can depend on other LEO's to do this always.

Were is it written what a "Good LEO stands for"? What is your standard set by? Ask any LEO here if a persons attitude has ever caused them to decide if they were going to issue a ticket or not. This isn't anything new, and it can also affect if an arrest is going to be made.
