Absolutely not. If that day ever comes, the Govt becomes the opposition, period.

Can't speak for other agencies, but many of us have talked about it in my agency and those that I know are with me on this one.

Don't for a minute assume that all, or most, in uniform would automatically go along with this. It seems as if many forget that we in uniform are citizens also.[;)]

If it was my job, yes. Would I like doing it? No. Fortunately, I don't see that happening in my lifetime. [;)]

You'd get a bullet in the head too...should you come knocking on my door...what part of our Constitution and upholding it, do you not understand![V][:(!]

This is the military enlistment oath. I don't know what oath various police departments take.

"I, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ __, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
    So help me God!"

My wife and 9 y/o daughter are also prepared to bear arms should that day ever come. They may eventually shed our blood, but not before we take some of them with us.

I've paid too high of a price defending our Constitution to let ANYONE walk all over it...

The majority of the military will not follow an unlawful order...or one that clearly violates our Constituion.

Basically if the order is given, its rather foolish to wait at home for them to come a knockin. THe smart mind would take to the hills, regroup, find others, organize, and attack them (the jackboots) at their doors.quote:Originally posted by ECC

All they'd have to do is ammend the Constitution and remove the 2nd ammendment. Then give the order to confiscate. If you disobeyed orders to defend an ammendment that no longer existed, you'd be fired and they'd hire someone else to do it.

I'm not an LEO but if I was one, I'd never do it, for any amount of money. At that point, I'd choose McDonalds over law enforcement.

    I hope to think now
    as it were years ago
    that the Leo's know
    right from wrong and
    don't "blindly" follow
    orders.
    Now to answer the hypothetical
    question.
My kids are gone ,grown up
    and have lives/children of their
own ,what they do is their business.
I've made sure my wife ,whether
I live or die has enough financial
resources to live a long modest life.
If I have to I'll let the
    juices flow once again

You make that sound as if it were an easy task. In 231 years there has never been an amendment that repealed one of the original 10. Fortunately some people in power have respect for what the founding fathers intent was. Lets hope it stays that way.

Oh, I agree. It would not be easy. But there's plenty of morons in our government and bleeding hearts that want to keep chipping away at it. It may be left in place but it doesn't mean they won't try to change the interpretation of it altogether. I've heard some wild interpretations.

The fact of the matter is that millions of people have voted people into power that would love to get rid of it tomorrow if they could. The UN would congratulate them. The antis would celebrate and most people on the fence wouldn't give a damn. Many people do not care if it stays or goes. They would not view it as freedoms being removed but as their government trying to protect them.

This topic has been beaten to death. My answer is, "NO."

I would resign immediately, and I think I would have plenty of company.

I'm in deep $h-t all the hills in Lower New York are already taken by big homes owned by the liberals...My neighborhood is slowly falling apart...maybe the police and army won't risk coming here[:D]

Its funny how many here say they would resort to partisan-style action if gun confiscation occurred.

That sure wasn't the case in NOLA. People just handed them over to the JBTs, usually without a struggle.
