    Sounds like a classic situation wherein the NRA will eventually broker some type of behind the scenes compromise as the NRA so often does.

    Hope not. Hope they stick with it with the other gun lobby/rights groups that are also involved.

    That's not the point; if you read the post, it is filled with language illustrating bureaucratese at work.
    That it will take until 2010 to see the committee report on the "pressing issue" of "illicit arms trading" should have clued you in on the battle of words these fine representatives are going to have for the next 3-5 years.
    That alone should show you the kind of people you're dealing with at the UN, and sometimes in our own Congress.
    They are the folks that write the laws for us to live by, who compromise and settle and find means and averages and common ground; not the NRA. If the NRA were involved in that process directly, we might have fewer laws restricting our right to shoot and hunt and own whatever the cows bring home!

    If any other gun rights advocacy group were as important and as powerful as the NRA; dontcha think they'd have deserved an honorable mention?
