need some warm hunting boots!
i'm in search of some warm (at least 1000 grms thinsulite insulation)
that are water proof, lace up 9 or 10".
rocky,lacroose,and browning has left the us and are made in china now. any one know of a good boot that isn't an overpriced piece of junk? i know the listed boots are susposed to be warranted for 1 year materals and workmanship, but i have yet to find a retailer, or manufactor who will stand behind the boots. i bought some 1200 gram china made rockys gave $169.00 for them and they came apart in less than 2 months.retailer,nor rocky would replace them. they never kept my feet warm either. i just lost the $169.00 and money on phone calls,and temper. does any one know of a company who will stand behind their products?

Check Cabelas.
Does Redwing make a 1000 gram + thinsulate boot? they're all American made, I believe.0 -

Not since the '50s...[}:)][}:)] Anyway, I would say check with Cabela's too. My son has a pair of Chippewa Arctic 50's and he swears by them....Says they are really great. [:)][:)]

I don't have any boots with the cold requirments that you need, but I am a real fan of Danners. Last time I checked they were made in Oregon, and I still have my first pair, bought in 91. I try on all the boots when I get new ones,and danners fit me best, I now own five pair. I have 400 grams of thinsulate in 2 of them, which is good enough for Az. I know they make them with more.[8D] 0 -
it really doesn't get that cold here(AL) but i have to take blood thinner and if the temp goes below 50 degrees i freeze. my feet and hands mostly. thats why i need lots of insulation. 0 -

I went with a Cabelas brand with about 1200 grams of Thinsulate...they are my favorite to date. Were a heck of alot cheaper than some others too. 0 -

If you want to go cheap. I just picked up a pair of 800 Thinsulate, "Guide" brand, water proof, lace-up's like you describe and have been pretty pleased with them. Was something like $45. They have a huge selection.

let me tell you a poor mans trick my father taught me
put on 1 pair of socks
put 1 bread loaf wrapper on over each sock
put on second pair of socks
i've never had cold or wet feet, and can wear any shoes i want, been out all day in zero degree weather, got cold other places but not my feet0 -

Had mine for over five years now. Would not even think about suggesting another brand for warmth and keeping the feet dry except Matterhorn.
They have always kept my feet warm and dry even through the coldest and wettest days. I really like the removable booty insert.

I have the same problem thou I am not not any type of meds. The temp can drop 5 degrees and I sometimes freeze for a few hours until I get back used to it.0 -

They are like wearing a pair of tennis shoes from day one. Everyone around here that I have shown them to and yes a few have tried them on have bought a pair.
I would also suggest grabbing a can or two of their Leather Conditioner. It is the about the best I have tried yet. It does not turn rancid and stink like Redwings gook oil.0 -

check out chippewa's made in canada but last forever, artic 50 is the name of them. good for 50 below zero[;)] 0
