Let's Abolish Concealed Carry Permits:
By that, I do not mean ban concealed carry. I am advocating a return to the 2nd Amendment as it was originally intended, where the government doesn't tell us how and when we can practice our Constitutional rights.

I am horribly dismayed by the response I have gotten from a lot of so-called "pro-gun" people, who get defensive, rude, and nasty, saying I'm a psycho-anarchist for daring to think the almighty Uncle shouldn't be regulating how we carry guns. It is just a sign that the anti-gun indoctrination is working, and in another generation people won't think we have gun rights at all!

If you want to eliminate all laws you must eliminate all government. Or at least eliminate the vast majority of it, anyway.
Mind you, I am not saying this is necessarily a bad thing, but it seems unrealistic.0 -
What do they call that revolution was it?? 0 -

The way is the Constitution, the candidate is Ron Paul.0 -
they used to say "it takes just one gun". 0 -
That is not true,.......our government has far over stepped their constitutional duties.
No law at all, is "anarchy", which some here advocate.
The other option is scaling back to what the government was meant to do.
Provide for the public defense, and certain duties of maintaining the public infrastructure,.......this is a modern need.
Other than that, the rest of the "programs" should be left up to the individual states, and how the constituents vote, through their voices,.......the elected representatives.
It will vary from state to state, and region to region,......the way it was meant to be.
Most depends upon the political scumbags, that swear an oath to the Constitution, and then betray it.
Replace them.0 -
I would like people to take common sense into the equation when interpreting the 2nd Amendment. Exactly how is it not "infringing" on our right to keep and bear arms, if the government has to give you a "permit" to carry? How is it not assuming guilt before innocence to make you beg the government for a permit before being allowed to practice your right to keep and bear arms?
I do not advocate the abolishment of laws. I advocate the restoration of our rights, as demanded by the Constitution. Right now, the anti-gun laws that make you get a permit to own or carry a gun, that turns our 2nd Amendment "right" into nothing more than a privilege that the government can revoke at will. This is what I have tried to explain consistently to my fellow gun owners.
Another good article which further explains my position on concealed carry:

You listen to Ron Paul and for about 45 seconds and he sounds fantastic.
Then he says something that makes him a complete nut job.
Aw, what the Hell. Most of the other candidates take less time than that to turn weird.0 -

Sure, but I don't think Dixon intends we eliminate all laws, only the ones that require that we register to exercise our rights.
I agree with Dixon.0 -
Well, Dixon..stay around and become the SECOND most hated man on GB.
I have been advocating that exact same thing for lots of years...and they call me "Nazi/rude/abusive/Anti-American/Paranoid/stupid..get the drift ?
I freely own up to "Rude/Abusive/"..the other words spew out of the mouths of the Beasts' minions...covering the things THEY are about.0 -

We shouldn't replace them, we ought to Prosecute Them for going against their oath!! They would a soldier.0 -

Read up on the subject, Marc, anarchy is a fascinating concept. But don't believe what you read in news papers about it or hear it from "experts" elsewhere.0 -
Many here applaud the (name left out on purpose, so as not to be "another" one of THOSE threads) when they help get a CCW law passed in their state.
As I have said MANY times. Turning a CONSTITUTIONALLY GUARANTEED RIGHT, into a revocable privilege, at the whim of the government, is NOT advancing our gun rights.
If "they" were advocating Vermont or Alaska style CCW, I would be ALL OVER THEM WITH PRAISE. But they are NOT. Considering that Alaska just passed this a short time ago, you can't say that it can't be done in this day and age.
Oh and while we are at it. Where are the shootouts on main street? The murders over parking places? The streets running with blood, that we were told would happen, if such laws were passed?0 -
Personally, I hope to have greater success with promoting the Constitutional agenda, as I am generally polite. When it comes to guns, I'm considered "radical" by many, but they don't consider me unbalanced or nasty.
Maine used to be second only to Vermont in pro-gun laws, and while it is still a strong, pro-gun state, we are losing ground slowly and surely. It used to be you just had to ask for a concealed carry permit. Then, they started charging $1, the next year it was $5, now it's $35 to apply and $20 to renew. Plus, it used to be you only had to apply to get one. Now, you are mandated to take 10-12 hours of government run courses, to prove that you aren't a mental retard, and then your local Sherrif can tell you to stuff it and refuse to give you the permit, just becuase he doesn't want to let civilians carry guns.
Mind you, most people still get their permits now, but it is steadily getting worse, and in another 20 years you'll see a lot more anti-gun laws on the books, and more and more local bureaucrats willing to deny you your rights.
It's obvious that there should be strict laws on the books to punish those who abuse guns, but there should be no presumption of guilt before innocence, and government has no Constitutional business telling us how and where we can practice our constitutional rights.0 -

Bluntly..you have little support.
MOST gun owners are closet anti-gunners..actually SUPPORTING many..if not most..gun laws.
Being rather weak people, they feel somewhat 'comforted' by government giving its permission for other people having guns..feeling that stamp of approval makes one 'safer' somehow.
Lacking trust in other citizens..unless passed by government..they rally around CCW's, background checks, and other Rights destroying machinations by those in power..the ultimate aim being total elimination of firearms..without a revolution.
In effect..they futher the agenda of those in power..in total ignorance of what they are doing.
The Judas Goats and the plain stupid excepted, of course..for when it is pointed out, ANYONE with an I.Q. over their shoe size ought to be able to connect the dots and understand the overall agenda of the Elites.0 -
Dixon and Highball, spot on. 0 -
Ah yes, Condescending and belittling fellow gun owners; quite the tactic. I've seen it used over the years by the elitist scum that only want to help out the poor, downtrodden gun owner sobbing over his lost rights, and then they profess to have all the answers wrapped up in a tidy little bill that voters are too stupid to read, and it gets voted into law.
Can we cut the Utopian dreamworld crap just for once?
Everyone has read the Constitution, and sure enough, it doesn't say that Gov't. can take away anything without DUE PROCESS, which BTW, is exactly what happens when a law gets passed that restricts ANY of your rights.
The same thing goes when Gov't. decides to mete out some rights piecemeal, ie: CCW or permits to defend yourself.
The "problem" with the situation is that when laws get passed; it's the VOTERS that have all the say as to whether or not it becomes law.
NOT the Constitution, or Bill of Rights, or Li'l Johnny down the street.
IF you want to do something about the steady erosion of your rights; learn to become involved BEFORE the dam thing becomes LAW!
Or you can whine all you want about what some forgotten piece of paper locked in a secure vault somewhere used to say about something or other and your rights.0
