Coworker Killed This Morning--Update

I got a call from a friend telling me that a man was killed this morning where I work. A heavy piece of machinery broke loose and crushed him. This is the first work related death since the plant opened in 1964. The man was a good friend and had been there 28 years. Your prayers for his family and all of us who knew him will be appreciated.

The mill loader that fell on him weighed 3800 lbs. He never knew what hit him. Probably a blessing. Thanks for all your prayers and good words.

    When I was twenty, on one uneventful night turn, at about 2 AM, I watched a twenty ton water cooled open hearth door get blown twenty feet in the air and land on three men standing in the charger lane. I was eating a ham sandwich for lunch - haven't cared much for ham since.

    Heavy industry can claim heavy damages when it comes to industrial accidents.
