Where The Universe Came From

The thingy that spawned the big bang was a singularity (linear size = 0, whatever your units).

Black holes are not singularities; they can be measured in terms of their diameters. I don't know if it's true, but I've heard that a human, compressed to the size of a proton, would make a small black hole.

    Interesting read, though.

If someone here comes up with the answer, and can prove it, Hawkings seat at Cambridge is theirs.[;)]

It's easier for me to accept Genisis 1:1 than try to figure out what you,re asking.Of course it takes faith to do it but God say's He's pleased with that.I did like your analogy of "entropy" though.I think Hawkings seat was made for him.

[:D][:D][:D][:0][:0]God is not going to like being called a "Black Hole" creator.

Face it this stuff is too much for the human brain to comprehend! What was there before the beginning???? Oops, can't comprehend that one!![:D]

Why is there an order and intellegence to everything in the universe??? Oops can't figure that out either.

Is God up there or within us, who the heck knows for sure. Fun to think about it and read the bible and all other works that think they know the "real story". The Jehovah Witnesses and the Scientologists are the only ones that know the truth.[;)][;)]

The black hole theory is for the non-believers, for those of us in the know, it's truly a heavenly mass.

    actually, E=M*C^2/SQRT(1-(v/C)^2)

If we lived in a black hole, there would be no spaces between the atoms and molecules that comprise, well, you for example.

But there is so we don't. Thank you.

I like your creative thinking though. And with enough forces (gravity, heat, pressure) then what we think of as the unchanging laws of nature change completely. So in that regard you might be on to something.

Fair enough but your divisor is so damn close to one that we can safely ignore it.

edit. I retract that. I've had a couple beers and probably shouldn't be getting in a geek pissing match right now[:D][:D]

Man will not comprehend the Universe until he finds another way to look at it other than using his eyes.

Mankinds lifetime is such a millisecond of space time, that we can't see that our planetary system is moving faster than the speed of light through space and that all the stars are moving further apart to eventually burn out and become dead worlds until some black hole sucks it all in and starts the whole process all over again.

It sounds good until I try to parse the bit that I've quoted above.

quote:Man will not comprehend the Universe until he finds another way to look at it other than using his eyes.that's what I did. for example, light cannot escape a black hole. nothing can. so it's impossible to observe what's going on inside a black hole, whether using your eyes, instrumentation or anything else. yet you can see inside with your imagination.

I call that my Big Boing theory.

    The danger of beers aside....

how can we talk about anything moving faster than the speed of light????

    It just doesn't happen.

yup, nothing can move faster than the speed of light.

there is an interesting phenomenon called "quantum entanglement", where supposedly, you can do something to 1 particle, and another particle far away will respond faster than what it would have taken for light to get to it.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_entanglement

although it can't be used to transmit information faster than the speed of light (read the article), it still responds faster than the speed of light. which makes me think that everything is interconnected.

good post; there is a part of us that can't help pondering these questions, even if we are incapable of truly understanding them.
If everything that we can say exists was contained within that singularity that exploded, is the space where it originated now filled, or void? Did everything therein contained radiate outward, leaving a void space at the origin which would expand at the same rate the singularity radiated ? Is there any change in the balance between void and matter? If entropy holds universally, then "black holes" will run down and cease attracting anything due to zero energy balance. Just how big IS that head of the pin, upon which the angels are said to dance?

There is one theory that during the "big bang" event, matter expanded faster than the speed of light. There was a reason given how and why this might have happened but damn if I can remember.

It's more for the people who have the capacity to look for answers, and come up with theorys based on evidence, rather than fall back on the easy answer that everything was created by an invisible man who lives in the sky.

Oh crap...I am a Jimmy Buffett fan and no way am I able to get deep into this but...

isn't there a theorist....I cannot remember his name ./...that proposed that quantifying these particles is imposible as to do so affects them?
