Bought it in August 2006 from Home depot, it broke three months later, main shaft was bent and tub needs replaced. Local Maytag repairman refused to service it because it came from home depot!!!
Another service man came five weeks ago looked at it and ordered parts, to this day we have not heard another word from him, no parts and we still dont have a Washing machine that works!!!
Trying to get a hold of someone at Maytag is next to impossible!!!
Not getting much help from Home Depot either!!!
Looks like Im gonna have to buy another washer, until this all gets settled!!! Customer service my ASS!!!!!

I agree with you. The old maytags were amazing machines. Would run a good 15 to 20 years strong. But ten years ago maytag made the decision to start building thier machines cheaper(because people were complaining about thier prices). when it comes right down to it, Thats what cost them the company.
I sell both whirlpool and maytag products out of my store and i have worked on them for years. I can honestly tell you that for one whirlpool machine i have to fix, There are five more maytags that i have to fix. It has been that way for years now. That is why i back whirlpool 100%.
So when you do a warranty service on either machine, who pays for it?

Highly doubt that would work , since he has had it too long. I believe lowes has a 60 day return policy. No idea about Home depot.
My suggestion is to send Home depot a letter or hand serve them a letter it needs repaired. Put them on notice to repair it within 10 days or the purchaser can repair it and bring them the bill. Small claims court would handle the whole situation. I guarantee you will get their attention real quick.

I was telling everyone.. Saleman didn't like the fact I brought it in the store. Too bad. I also had called Lowes headquarters and the store knew I was coming to settle a dispute. Lowes uses a local appliance dealer for repairs and they are good if something breaks.0 -

Before Whirlpool paid for thier warranties and maytag paid for thiers also.
Now Whirlpool owns Maytag, So Whirlpool pays for all the warranties.0 -

HA HA!! My Maytaq Washer from the 60's is still going, and so is the Kenmore dryer!! I paid $100 for both of them eight years ago. I had to replace the rollers on the dryer and that's it. [:D][:p] 0 -

This all reminds me of my Kenmore Fridge a while back that was 2 years old and had a compressor failer.While troubleshooting I noticed the electrical components were made in Mexico.I thought Kenmore was still whirpool & made in the U.S.A.
Two weeks ago my Goodman Furnace (Made by Janitrol)two months out of warranty had the fan squirrel cage blades all come loose.Very poor design.Least I can replace it on two internet site's searched was $115.oo
Furnace blower fan's used to last forever,and fridge compressors used to last 10 years and sometimes 25 + years.
Our Made in America Companies are in competition for low prices I think and not the quality they used to be.Cheap foriegn labor,free trade acts,much larger failure rate of product,, still equals a hefty profit.0 -

My Whirlpool freezer has had 4 compressors in it this second year of its life... well actually only 3 have been in it, one was only unpacked by the tech and then sent back as defective before being put it... I asked him what the hell was going on, he said "made in Brazil"... (at least I think it was Brazil, not one of the usual cheap labor joints)... 0 -

since those old washers and dryers run so good, why don't you start up your own shop selling old hot rodded w/d's, when ppl realize how good they run compared to the new junk, they'll get a reputation in town and you'll do a lot of business0 -

Not at all impressed with Sears either. Bought a new refrigerator for the wife for our aniversary. 3 days before the warranty ran out, it stopped cooling. Called Sears, the best they claimed they could do was give us an appointment in 3 weeks. Told them if they couldn't do better, come and take a picture of it cause that's the last thing I'll ever buy from them. Couple days later gave up with them and called the local repairman, he came right out and fixed it, blower fan. Charged me $175.00. 2 weeks after that Sears called and asked when they could come out, choice was 2 more weeks out. Chewed on their service managers ass for a while and told them where to go. No more sears stuff for me, ever. Not usre what I'll do if and when I need another appliance cause sears and lowes are both out for me. The home depots goes way down on the list too from what they did to pa booger. 0 -

What i am saying is that i only do service on products that were bought from me and i do not do service on anything that was boughten anywhere else. This ensures that i will always be able to give my customers the best possible service.0 -

Yes that does include the Roper brand that whirlpool makes.
Average life i get out of a roper washer(or any whirlpool washer) is 10-15 years.
Average life out whirlpool frontloaders, 25 Years
Expected life of the new cabrios, 20 Years.
Whirlpool is going back to putting more quality in thier machines, But they get a bigger price tag because of that. You see the same thing happening in the vehicle market though.0 -
Maybe I'm just lucky but I bought my Kenmore Washer/Dryer from Sears. My Whirlpool fridge came from local chain and my Whirlpool stove came from another local store. Bought all this stuff 9 years ago and it will outlast me!!!
My dishwasher is Maytag from Home Depot which replaced the 20 year dishwasher which came with the house. I worry most about this one because there is a lot of plastic but so far so good after 5 years0 -

We bought a washer & a dryer from our local Home Depot. We played hell getting our rebate from Home Depot, and then the washer went south, and we had to look far & wide for someone to service it.
