They may have to stop whiskey production due to the natural spring that is on their property,where they get their water is drying up. Unless the level comes back to normal production will stop. Bad news for those that drink the stuff..[:0]

I have been a member for about 35 years. When I joined, they sent me two sets of Jack Daniels glasses. Now days, I get about 2 funny letters and a calender a year. I also got a deed to one square inch of land in Lynchburg. 0 -
I have the glasses also, broke one a while ago and tried to replace the glass, they told me they dont mfg the glasses any longer.I sometimes wonder of their value if any.Ive been a member for 30 yrs and get gag mail from them from time to time. 0 -

I have 2 barrels signed by Jimmy Bedford,..does that count? I have run 3 barrels of Jack Single Barrel through in the past 3 years[:D] Oh,..and dinner with Clint Bowyer and Richard Childress[8D] 0 -

Just what is the going price for a barrel of Jack, can they ship it across state lines? Your house sounds like the place to be, do you have it on tap?

nawww guys,. I run liquor stores[:D] For a dispensory county no less. So I run single barrel on sale for a year or so, and voila!! we gain repeat customers on the "good stuff". That gets me the race car 2x per year for a day to put in front of the stores or local businesses, etc etc. Oh, and the Jack girls are ok too[:I]
BTW, a barrel of "Jack Single Barrel" will run you about $8000 at my cost. This makes maybe 63-65cs of 750ml in 6 bottle cases.0 -

I live about 70 miles from Lynchburg and I remember when Jack Daniels would sell you a used barrel for $7. Now days, they ship them overseas to other liquor companies to reuse. People around here fiqured out that if you put about a gallon of water in the barrels and roll them around in the sun for a week, you could get a pretty good amount of whiskey out of them. Then, you could saw up the barrels and make planters, chairs, etc. 0 -
nawwww, $8000 wont buy you a pickled liver,.....from what I see,...more like $40,000 or so, in a short span of time,..maybe 10-15yrs, using the cheap stuff. I see the empty souls every so often,...not many, but they are out there. Simply dead on their feet, just exist to drink[V]
My barrels are the ones which MY CASES came from. When you purchase a barrel of single barrel jack,..you get every case from that barrel,..as well as THE barrel it came from. They are all serial numbered as were every bottle from that barrel. That included a medalion draped over every neck which said,.."bottled for xxxxxx". So everyone in the county has a collectors item,...so to speak.
The barrels were signed by Jimmy Bedford and were then covered in a few coats of varnish and affixed with a plaque for my county. I sold it $2 over cost for 2yrs,.....talk about a following[;)]0 -

JustC: givette here. I know it's a no-no to ship the barrel with the whiskey in it. Is it a DOT thing? Revenue law? Just curious. Joe 0 -
liquor is shipped from the distillery to the wholesaler. The wholesaler is THE ONLY legal entity which can sell any product they have contracted, within the limits of thier distributorship. My distibutors have the entire state,...so every bottle of XYZ comes from the distributor contracted to sell it.
Every bottle run through those distributors is taxed accordingly, most likely by both the distrubotor and the distillery/importer.
as to the barrel,..I got the the bottles in cases with the barrel number on them. The barrel was also included on the truck as a special "thank you". They also have an engraved plaque for my county affixed to each barrel. The bottles are hand marked for lot number,..as is the barrel.
His great grand neice came and did a training on their products last year,..it was a great learning experience. She is the only female MASTER TASTER in the business. Great lady,..and very intelligent about whiskey.0 -
My better half went through the tour with one of his friends.....he came back talking about how "cool it was" and went on and on about how much he wished he had bought a barrel. (just the barrel empty) He did get a couple bottles. I wish I could get him a barrel for Christmas or something as a suprise. Do you know how much one is? 0 -
LF,..if I can get one,..it won't be varnished and the whole nine yards,..it will most likely be one that has seen it's day. If that is fine w/you I will inquire about getting one. The barrel will probably be as much as the shipping due to it's size,..but should be less than $100 by a bit. I know the distributor has them,...as I have gotten some for friends before. It will have the Jack Daniel's insignias burned into the barrel in a few places. 0 -

givette, that is a good question. I am not sure the distillery would ship a full barrel to the wholesaler, who would then ship it to me for sale to you (if you were to be from this state and placed and order for such a thing). I would imagine that the reason would be that the distillery wouldn't know exactly how much product (gallonage report for the state) was actually in that particular barrel. That being said, the state may also have a regulation against a full barrel for whatever reason. I will ask the Brown Foreman guys when I see them and ask just what could be ordered and why/why not. Then I'll have a good answer from those more involved with shipments from distillery to wholesaler. Liquor is a LOT MORE complex in it's laws than beer is for whatever reason. 0
