More scope problems this yr than ever

I have switched some scopes around, I found a descent Bushnell and put it on my 22-250 then put the old scope off of it and put the scope off the 22-250 on the .308. I then put the .308 scope on my .17 HMR. Now the cross hairs turn when you shoot the .308, Ive spent what extra money I had now Im back to buying a good cheap scope. Can someone recommend one for the .308 that is half way descent and at a reasonable price? Any suggestions appreciated.

    I bought used Burris scopes for my sons' 308s. Paid $125 and $115 for them, work great.

    Sigfan's suggestion is a good one. I have a Weaver Grand Slam on my .308 and it has held up well. The power adjustment ring is huge and can take some tweeking in mounting to be certain your bolt and hand clear when cycling the action.

    If only I could find one around here for that price. Not even sure if the gun shop has any Burris scopes. That does sound like a pretty good scope at a good price, thanks for the info.

    My suggestion is to put the scope from the .17 back on the .308 and then get one of the Sweet .17 scopes that BSA makes. It is nowhere near top of the line, but it is good to 200 yards and does reasonably well in low light conditions. The .17 is not a thumper so that scope should last you for the life of the gun.

    Used scopes turn up pretty regularly on GB and the other Internet firearms auction sites.

    I have been really impressed with the Nikon Buckmaster series, they are not too expensive, they have great glass, they have a great warentee, they have great adjustment knobs, and the BDC reticule is truly awsome

    I love bushnell. I have a bushnell elite that is very nice(about 175.00) at an expensive store. You could get it cheaper with a little more stores to choose from.

    no problems with any of them

    Have you ever tried any of the Barska rifle scopes? I have two and love them and both sit atop .308's in which I do get carried away with Hot handloads sometimes. The first is Barska's SWAT model which is offered in several power ranges( I sport a 8x-32x 44mm SWAT) with illuminated mil-dot reticle, 1/8 MOA adjust target knobs, and side-focus. It comes with sunshade, flip up covers, and its own rings but get rid of them and buy a good set of 30mm rings. The other is Barska' Tactical which has all the goodys as the Swat but with 1/4 MOA adjustment. They have exellent glass and light transmission, very sturdy(trust me I have dropped mine several hard times), and have never had an issue with it not returning to zero, and they are also 50BMG rated. I bought the SWAT scope about 2 yrs ago from Wal-mart.com for $240 and the tactical I got from MidwayUSA for a little less then that. Also check out the SuperSniper scopes at www.swfa.com if you are into fixed power mil-dots! Hope this helps alittle. Good Luck!

    I have a Tasco. Its not one of the "good scopes" but I shoot great groups @100 yards with my 30-06.

    good and cheap can't be applied to scopes. The cheaper ones will eventually let you down,..and most of the time during a hunt.

    Burris Fullfield II would be my target. Now,..I have a savage smokeless powder muzzle loader which is known for finding any defects in a scopes internals,..and thus far after 100-150rnds of testing and hunting,..the Simmons Aetec that is on it is still dead nuts accurate and very bright.

    for under $200, the Aetec takes the cake.
