Well, yeah, but why? Isn't the criteria for being C&R "a weapon that is either 50+ years old OR has significant collecting value due to rarity"?

It's probably due to some kind of historical connotation, like the Soviet SKS's that are less than fifty years old but are still C&R eligible. Czechoslovakia was still part of the Soviet Union then.

I'm glad you posted this, it's news to me - I'm getting one!

do you have a copy of the list?, 50 years old is just one of many of the criteria

It's not on the list yet, not even the newest update. There's a big group of Soviet military weapons that are on the list, though - I bet that's what the deal is with these, too.

My question is why is the 9X18 on the list, but the 32ACP isn't?

I would bet the caliber is the main reason this is C&R and not so much the design.

    MND,
I was wondering myself. I first saw it when I rec'd. the mailer from Centerfire...so its not just AIM.

One thing I've learned since getting my C&R is that gun laws don't make a whole lotta sense!

...They are now C & R,the ATF list is just not updated yet to show it...it was added to the list.

Why try to figure out why? The ATF is mainly made up of a bunch of dummies, dont believe it? Just try to get the same answer to the same question from two of 'em.

Why can I have a WWII Colt 1911, or SKS shipped to my door, but I cant have a modern long gun left in my possession for more than 24 hours to refinish/repair the stock without having an 01 FFL???
    ...like I said, dummies...[;)]

Apparently these are now considered C&R? I mean, thats wonderful, but... how exactly? The oldest ones were made in 1982. And they were produced in such numbers that they definitely cannot be considered a curio.

    Anyone have any guesses?

It doesn't matter to me, but it's enough that I just sent in a request for a C&R license application[:)]

Why is a Winchester Mdl 88 a C&R, and a Winchester Mdl 100 is not? Yeah, there is the 50 yr rule, and then there is the stuff that the surprise party division of the ATF adds to the list.

Its not hearsay, you can't ship a handgun even C&R to a C&R without being overnight so they usually ship FedEx. Hence 41 BUCKS!

OOOOWWWWWWW ! Just ran a quote for UPS Next Day Air Saver- 5 lb package from VA to GA, them picking up. $57.92 Methinks THIS C&R holder will be visiting his friendly neighborhood 01 Dealer- who can MAIL a handgun for a fraction of that!

I think it's worth the extra $$ to have the gun delivered to my door and not have 4473's sitting around gun stores.

I ordered a CZ-82 on my 03 license and recieved it on 4-11. The overnight shipping was $31.00 not $41.00. It is worth that not to have a form 4473 in a gun shop for snoops. Just a entry in my bound book.
