Winchester Turkeycall promotion
Okay- so I bought the two boxes of ammo & sent in the stuff, so today I got the call. It's one of the flat surface(held in one hand) and pencil shaped ceramic rod that is used to scratch the flat piece, making the sounds. There are no instructions-
1. Are there any instructions available for the use of these types of calls?
2. Are there any publications regarding the general technique of calling turkeys?

I've seem them before, and tried it. Don't you just scrub the pencil thing back anf forth on it to make the call? That's how I did it. But maybe the noise I was making didn't sound like a turkey at all. Not sure as I have never gone turkey hunting. 0 -
Usually, you tip the striker slightly away from your body.
Start by making the letter "J", about an inch long
Also make counter-clockwise circles. This makes yelping sounds.
Short strokes make purrs and putts. Putt's are the warning calls for turkeys though.
Soft short strokes make feeding sounds.
Start by trying those.0 -
Sounds like cheap slate style call that does not have a sound chamber pot with it. They can work, but when you palm it make sure not to crowd the bottom of the call, leaving room for the sound to escape. Make sure you also lightly sand the area you want to run the peg across.
