Georgia state carry law affected by Cho
Our state reps WITHDREW the expanded right to carry bill in our state house, that would have protected peoples right to leave a firearm in their call without permission of the parking lot owner.
Said timing was bad b/c of the shooting!?
I think the shooting shows that not carrying does not work!
The bill was being debated, prob would have passed

Legislature rejects 'guns at work' bill
Business groups lauded the defeat of a bill that would have kept them from banning guns in locked cars from company parking lots.

It was not a good week for the NRA
TALLAHASSEE -- Bringing an end to one of the most fevered debates in Tallahassee this year, a house committee killed an NRA-backed bill on Wednesday that would have allowed employees to keep guns in their cars at work despite an employer's objections.
A day after the gun massacre of 32 people in Virginia, the House Environmental and Natural Resources Council rejected the measure by a 10-4 vote, effectively quashing a similar bill that was set for a full debate by the Senate.
With various options to postpone or sidestep an outright vote on HB 1417, Rep. Stan Mayfield, R-Vero Beach, who chaired the committee, urged members at the outset to move forward with the issue. ''Sometimes you can't avoid tough votes,'' Mayfield said.
The so-called ''guns at work'' measure would have made it illegal for business owners to ban employees from keeping legal property -- including guns -- in their locked cars while parked on company property.
The issue brought two of the most influential advocacy groups in Tallahassee -- the National Rifle Association and the Florida Chamber of Commerce -- to loggerheads, and divided Republican lawmakers who count members of both among their core constituents.
Business groups lauded the measure's defeat, which they said would have opened them to significant liability and put employees at risk.
''Employers can now craft policies that are appropriate for their businesses,'' said Jennifer Davis, a spokeswoman for the Florida Chamber of Commerce.0 -
It is withdrawn from consideration, semantics dont change anything.
point is, this should be a time to support the bill!, not hide and be embarrased to bring it up0 -

My letters to Chambliss, Isakson, and Westmoreland went out yesterday. How about yours?0 -
this is a state issue, you sent it to the US senators? 0 -
Yeah, I have to admit I mailed letters to the Georgia General Assembly and all of my US Congress people expressing my feelings about HR1022 and the "Castle Doctrine" and "expanded right to carry" issues in Georgia, since I feel those issues should be national also. 0
