Just got DMPS, shot a few times before -- so far so good. As far as I know Bushmaster makes one of the best AR's, but I can't talk from experience yet, maybe in a few weeks after I give my Bushmaster a bit of testing. I definitely like Bushmaster's bolt and the carrier better, it just looks like it's made better. 0 -
Well what barrel length are we looking at short stock full stock right or left handed? Where are you located as in whats the weather like Collapsible stock we need details man. 0 -
I have two dpms .223 and one S&W .223.

Bushmaster Varminiter hands down [:p][:p][:p]. It was one of the best $1000 I ever spent on a rifle. I bought one knowing it would be good, but not live up to all the hype of the day. DPMS may be my second choice but Bushmaster is really one of the better AR-15's Ive seen. Ive put hundreds of rounds down range with excellant performence. As a range instructor Ive seen more Bushmasters perform than any other brand with very few problems over the yrs. If I could not get a Bushmaster DPMS would be my second choice. Good Luck!! 0 -

Mine was stainless and It shot like a dream. I was busting beer bottles at 90yds open sights with a bipod.0 -
STAG makes a top rate rifle and would save you some money.
The AR design has been refined to the point of being an inherently accurate design and most all of the big name manufacturers will be able to give you the performance and accuracy you will be pleased with.0 -

Been getting the job done in years past with a trusty Ruger #1 in 22-250. Just have the erge for a auto. 1/2 MOA is possible I hear, that's impressive! 0 -
1/2moa is very attainable with an AR.
I have a rifle that shoots 5 shot one ragged hole groups that are around a 1/2" at 100 yards. It is a heavy bull barrel though. It would be great for pdogs but I would not want its weight for hunting coyotes.0 -

First of all the Stag Arms or DPMS are both great rifles. I am in agreement with Nwcid on the Bushmaster. A friend of mine has the Predator with a 20 inch barrel and that is what my wife just bought me for coyote popping. The Bushmaster Predator runs a fluted heavy barrel that is fully free floated with a 1:8 twist for heavier bullet stabilization.
Another outstanding platform is Rock River Arms. They make a Varmint version, Predator Pursuit and a Coyote Rifle version. All are great choices...but they are a little behind and the wait is about 2 months if a distributor doesnt have one in stock.
I believe Stag makes a lefty version as well.
You cant really go wrong with any of these manufacturers.0 -

If your only going to use this gun for huntin coyotes and woodchucks Id get the 24 inch barrel DPMS Probably the one with the freefloating handgaurd im not sure on the wieght but your probably not going to want one with a heavy barrel Personally Id get the Armalite M15 flattop with the stainless barrel and the freefloating handgaurd its downright fun to shoot a little pricier but very very accurate. Im pretty sure its chrome lined chamber but its been awhile since I had mine Your definately gonna want a flattop reciever cause im more than sure youll be putting a nice scope on it. I've sold one Buschmaster and about a dozen DPMS's. I prefer the DPMS. They are nice rifles and have never had a failure yet with one. 0 -
For Coyotes I would get or assemble something similar to the RRA coyote rifle.
I like things simple when it comes to a rifle. Simple rifle with a simple 3-9x40 or 50 scope.
Light weight, 16" Scoped rifle with winter trigger guard, Free float handguard, two stage trigger... Here is a pic you can read the specs from their site.0 -
Don't know why, but I never see OA recommended. Although I've not shot mine enough to know how well they hold up, nor how accurate, etc. But mine supposedly came from a PD, and i figure if good enough for them, they must be ok..[?]

The 1.5 OA's I currently own (1 complete, and 1 upper) are in 9mm. I have had rifle and a OA 93 pistol in the past. Both worked fine but fit and finish are not as nice as may other brands. You can pick up OA rifles for less money then most others and I am sure that is why. I have not had any problems with any of mine nor have a couple buddies that have them. I would spend a little more money on a nicer rifle if I had a choice, but the ones I own currently are because they are the only ones that make what I want.0 -
IMO
most all ar style rifles are pretty damb good, colt stag bushmaster dpms s&w and a few others.
I would consider the distance of your average shot, and would be more concernd with barrel length and targeting system. than I would with the manufacturer of of your ar.

Mine, First I bought a full on Colt H-bar.
I removed the stock barrel, an added a DPMS 1-7 .223 SST 24" fluted BBL
and a DPMS float tube.
Now it shoots like it should.[:D]0 -
