Corn husks falling from the sky.

Was at home today and corn husks were falling from the sky and landing in the yard. Looked up and thay were falling from way, way up. There was no wind. Talked to the neighbors later and they saw the same thing. Don't know where they came from. We have corn fields all around us but like I said, there was no wind all day. I googled mysterious corn husks falling from the sky and found this link. It was from Aug. 7th and in Wichita. I'm in southern Indiana. Has anybody ever seen this before?

    No, but did see it rain small fish/minnows once.

    yes....we get big dust devils as we call them here, pick them up and they can take then quite high in the air them when it weakens the leaves fall back down from sky....some of them here can get quite big and look like a mini tornado.....have even seen them on snow swirling around two times in my life.

    Cowdoc's got it! And if you have ever been a kid growing up in the midwest, you know just how fun it is to run into these whirlwinds (dustdevils) and watch your hat go flying up in the air. Like Cowdoc, I've seen some huge ones pick up hay, cornhusks, trash, about anything light in weight with a large surface area. You really see a lot of them in the spring when it's dry and warm during planting.
