Annoying dog.
I went to the range today with a friend (range report is in a different post).
The worst thing about the day was the border collie that showed up just about 4 minutes after we started shooting. He clearly lived at one of the houses about .5 miles from the range, heard the first shot and took off to greet us.
I'm not a dog guy, but I don't mind them. But this one! This one was very much underfoot (but not downrange). He'd come and sniff the barrel of a loaded pistol if you had it at your side. About 20 minutes into it he started sniffing my friend's legs (friend has dogs) and then started to bark. And would not shut up. (Friend said: "Listen, I'm a dog enthusiast, but I don't want to shoot a dog today." It didn't help.)
When we left, this damn dog was actually charging the front bumper of the car as we drove the .1 mile from the range parking to the road. It was VERY tempting to hit the gas a bit and run it over, but I'm a good boy. Once we were back on the road that dog sprinted at about 20 - 25 mph for a good 3/4 mile, trying to catch us. I'd like to blame the dog's owners, but they live in the middle of NOWHERE. I wouldn't fence or chain a dog if I lived out there either.
Today was the first time I've been on that range in over two years. What a PITA to know that I'll probably have to deal with doggie almost every time I go there. I'm thinking about bringing a rope (to keep him the hell away from me) and a bone (to shut him up) every time I go out there.

Does animal control even exist in rural ID? Does that translate to 'Sherriff?'
No such thing as animal control around here either. The Sheriff here would laugh if I called them for a stray dog problem.0
