Away from the madness
I have spent the past few days doing some turkey hunting in my home town. It's not that I don't visit it often(I only live 1 hour away and most of my family still lives there), but I just haven't had a lot of time to remember how much I liked it. It's nice to be able to drive around town at 25 mph looking at how things have changed and getting waves from people you don't even know, but they do it anyways because thats how friendly they are. It's nice to get away from driving 55 mph in traffic filled highways where people just don't give a crap as long as they get where they want to go. Just thought I would let you all know that.

my home town is a six hour drive. last time i was there, everything was dang near dead. even in the daylight the town looks dark and on its last legs. pity too. so many memories, good and bad, but that was my childhood. 0 -
May 1st opening day of turkey season, I was sitting up in the woods in the small town that my father was born, dirt roads, farms, was thinking the same thing.
It then occured to me that this happens every day, the sun comming over the hill and the woods comming to life, birds ,geese, roosters, crows calling their mates and then it is just as peacefull as it can be.
I sometimes cant figure why we live in the hustle bustle world we do,life is somtimes cut short, we get old to soon, and how many more opening days do I have left? I am returning to that hill tomorrow and every day I can for the rest of the season, God willing.0 -
I grew up on an island. It was peaceful and great. You wouldnt know it now if you went there. I now live in a county that does not have a single red light. Not one in the entire county... that should say alot about the way life is here. I love it! 0 -
My hometown has 200 people and I still live in it.
I would rather have my balls pounded flat with a wooden mallet than live in a town with more than 200 people. The quality of life decreases exponentially with every additional person.
If I ever move I won't be in a town at all.0
