For the record, I'm done picking on "Newt"
No kidding. This isn't getting anywhere and I'm not making things any better. Nobody told me to do anything and I'm tired of being on the offence, or even the defense. Please don't assume, or try to read into this. I'm just done picking on him. Who knows, I may even support some of his postings. Have a "Good Friday" and a Happy Easter everyone. [^]

Well alrighty then![:D] 0 -
Yeah, given the fact that he called people defending their home and property cavemen, he deserves all the understanding he can get! Liberals like to be talked to and "understood."[xx(] 0 -
Good for you! Just remember, this is only a mess. forum. Every one of them has a few members that like to push the buttons of other members. They are self proclaimed "puppet masters". They like to see how many "puppets" they can get to dance to their threads. It is best to ignore their threads. 0 -

I couldn't agree more. The best way to stop picking on him is to stop responding to him.
But....If it all goes south for you Hobby, I got your back.0 -

newt,
I'm not the feel-good liberal-wannabe telling folks around here that we shouldn't defend our homes and property. Go ahead and pretend it didn't happen, but everyone knows where you stand on the matter.0 -
lol, if you happen to read any of my posts you will see i am not a "feel good liberal wannabe " either. however, i believe that law enforcement matters are best handled by......law enforcement. If that is a radical "liberal" idea to you then I guess oh well. I personally would not shoot and kill someone for stealing my car or anyone elses car. Now, you misrepresented my position by saying I wouldnt "defend" my property.
BUT....like i said earlier "nice try"

newt,
And I disagree with you on that. The notion that the police should handle ALL law enforcement is what we call a "police state."
For them to be able to handle 100% of it requires 100% coverage. It means cops in our homes, our work, our schools, everywhere.
Somewhere along the line we have lost the ability to take the responsibility for our own welfare upon ourselves.
We expect people to pay us if we can't find work. We expect people to take care of us for free when we are not well. We expect people to protect us from any and all situations.
But as the police cannot be in our yards 24/7, neither they nor society should expect us to sit by and allow them to enforce the law at their convenience.
The right to be secure in one's home, property, and papers did not have the added stipulation of "but only when the cops are around."0 -
Here, Newt.
Who loves ya' baby!!! [:D][:D][:D]0 -
I'm glad y'all worked it out. I was about to send a negotiator. [:D]

Hey pal,
Ever wonder why, even in their perfect world, Jordie, Riker, Pecard, Troi, and all the rest kept phasers in their cabins?
You take action when action is needed. Anything less is just stupid.0 -

you are exactly right. that is why america has enacted citizen arrest powers. however, like i said before, i have never been opposed to people DEFENDING their property or acting in a lawful manner to defend their property. I object to the killing of someone over property.0 -
newt,
And I don't. The line between a thief and a murderer or rapist is a thin one. Someone who takes it upon themselves to break the law willingly already has impulse control issues and morality problems - the next logical step, should such behavior not be curbed, would naturally be more extreme. People get spoiled and like to push their luck - it's human nature. That having been said, today's thief may be tomorrow's rapist.
Will that always be the case? Of course not. But why take the chance?
BTW, even if we don't agree, I do admire you sticking to your guns. Please pardon my previous rudeness.0 -
previous rudeness has been pardoned, lol. however, i just disagree. i think this thread started with the attempted car theft in sacromento. apparently the suspect was a gang member and career criminal. i have no sympathy for those kinds of people. although i do not condone shooting him and i think it might have been for the best that he was shot. BUT....i just think thats a huge difference between petty theft and the majority of people who do that. when i was young me and most of my friends shoplifted something at sometime. stats show that most teend will do that at some point. they are young and growing up and should be dealt with in a different manner. death is NOT one of those. however, for life long criminals i guess i'm not totally opposed to shooting them to make the streets safer. 0 -
newt,
Now I never said anything against shoplifting...[8D]
I mean, come on... anyone who raises their hand when asked if they never boosted anything as a kid is either lying or not telling the truth.[;)][:D]
Hobby Guy,
I do my best. Sometimes it ain't good enough (namely when my temper gets a hold of me), but I do try![;)][:D]0 -
alright well i guess we'll call this one a draw, lol 0 -

well if i had a gun in my hand and someone was trying to steal my guns and they were inside my house.....they probably wouldnt make it out alive.0 -
Because the newt is an amphibian
It needs some water to swimmy in
It eats bugs and small fishes
Doesn't have any dishes
And has no house to livey in.
Did you know?
Newts live part of their life completely out of the water and part of their life completely in the water.
A newt is always a salamander, but a salamander is not always a newt!
Some mother newts keep their eggs safe by wrapping leaves around each one as they are laid-up to 400 eggs!
The ribbed newt has needle-like rib tips. It can squeeze its muscles to make the rib tips pierce through its skin and into its prey!

[8D]--Yo EMM-you totaly astound me in your logical, analitical assesment of the "above" problem--
-I can't believe this paragraph came from your normal assesment of this FORUM--
--Do you have any reason/pressure for this IDEA--
--[8D][:o)]__JIMBO0 -
Personally if I found someone breaking into my car and thats all. I surely wouldn't attempt to shoot them. My car or the contents are not worth enough to me to take someones life. I do also beleive though, that someone should be able to make their own decision as to if it's worth taking that life or shooting that person.
On the other hand if I find someone in my house I will do everything I can to have then fall ill to a bad case of death. My house is more of a intrusion to me and I have things unreplaceable to me in it that I'm not willing to take any chances with (wife and kids).
People should be able to defend what they work so hard for. Why should someone feel they can just take another mans hard work?0 -
