Cheaper just to put them up for adoption. [:D][:D] I remember the days, but I can't figure out why a kid has garbage bags on a school supply list.

Sounds like they are a drain on society. I don't know why in the hell you had more than one.....

I'll be writing a couple of big checks in a few weeks for my son's tuition and books. In a few years you'll long for these days.

iluvguns....you are just an A$$ if you don't agree with every little thing someone else does aren't you. Mine will be just fine. I have the clorox wipes and hand sanitizer....maybe all of the rest....who knows....I quit trying to check the list and just went off what I remembered toward the end.

When I look at your lists it is clear your school is going the way of many. It appears you are buying some general supplies for the whole classroom to use. They will be collected by the teacher and used by the school and the classroom. Paper towels and trash bags are not educational supplies. Next thing the kids will be taking their own TP and who knows what else so the school can keep the "budget" down.

Don't know if this makes me a terrible parent or not, but I told my boys if they wanted college after they turned 18 and graduated from high school, that they could get $50,000 for college and 3 hots and a cot if they joined the military. My thinking is this would make them more responsible.

So we are in agreement that it is rediculous what all the schools call..."supplies." Also that if you go to buy these things for more than one child you can spend a small fortune.....that is all I was saying. I guess we DO agree then.

Absolutely not - military service is great! I told my kids the same. I retired from the USAF 10 Jul (currently on terminal leave until end of Aug). As I end my career, my oldest (18) started his 28 Jun at the US Air Force Academy. It's always his dream since I can remember. His total scholarship package is valued ~ $300,000 (academic is around $120,000).

I have another son (15) that until recently is considering following big brother's foot step. My wife and I are blessed with two wonderful sons and are very proud of them.

Just a thought but have you considered school supplies (pencils, notebook, packs, etc ...) with your business printed on them [:p][}:)][^].

I often wonder at this time of year what the school district does about all those kids whose parents don't have the money (which averages about $200/kid) into school supplies at the beginning of the year. And a lot of those "supplies" are at the discression of the teacher, not required by the curriculum.
I mean, "clorox wipes," "gabage bags," "a box of tissues"? WTH?!? Are we supplying our kids or the kids' classroom?
When I worked for the school district, on my first day, I went to the front office to inquire with the main office secretary about supplies for my desk, you know, paper clips, post-it notes, staplers, etc... She about laughed me out of the office. Was I nuts? School district does not supply "supplies," bring your own....

Government can find the money to fire off a probe to Mars, and send another shuttle into space, but to fix crumbling bridges or supply schools with what they need to teach our kids? Heck no!
