Suburban,.......you may have to call me "stoopid", but what is a plum stock?[8D]
It has been so long since I have had an AK,......I forgot how light they are compared to a full size AR-15.
Just finished stripping it, cleaning, and re-assembling.
    Not much to clean though.
I believe it also has the Tapco anti-slap trigger, G2?
    I will see soon enough!

    That Looks Nice!
If it has G2 trigger in it it will have G2 on the side of the trigger.

Thanks MVP,.......do you mean on the visible "exposed" trigger sides?
I just looked at my Tapco catalog, and it looks like all the markings are up in the group.
If it should be visible through the trigger guard, then there is no marking.
All I know is the trigger group is one of the compliance parts listed as US made.
If NOT,.......I will be getting one.
I will wait to have my finger "whacked" to find out, as I ain't stripping it again.
It is sitting in the cabinet![:D]

You would have to pop the dust cover off and remove the bolt and look at the trigger and hammer inside.
Or you could pop the pins and remove the trigger to see it.

A plum stock is the blac polymer stock with the lond dimple in it.

    See,.....I just learned something![:D]
I was starting to think you were "colorblind", and saw it as deep purple!![8D]

lol, i m somewhat color blind, i sometimes mix colors up at a distance. Very nice K. I hope you have a litle better luck with your polymer front guard than i did. I went to the range after i put on a polymer front handguard and installed a front grip, shot 400+ rounds in an hour, melted my handguard and made it wobble. It was an Israeli companies front handguard, i called em up, they told me send it back and they sent me a new one. great customer service.

I wondered about the same thing, with the polymer.
This one does have a metal plate, that "wraps" around the barrel, with an airspace between them.
Also holes in the top, so we shall see!
I have had it stripped down totally,........both handguards off, and everything else stripped.
Barrel is "beauty", and the important stuff has been replaced with compliance parts.
Had to remember though about the "compensator",.......it sets at a 45 degree angle to the right, from the shooters perspective. I thought it was not tightened down enough, and pushed the pin, but it would not seat any other way.
Suddenly the brain flashed, and I remembered that style was made for full auto, and is correct in that position. Trying to compensate for the rifling twist, and muzzle rise at the same time!
    I'm not totally a dope with AK's![:D][8D]

Very nice AK, Mark. May I ask how much did it cost? I love Bulgarians.

The name "plum stocks" arises from the very dark, but not quite black, purple color resulting from the dye added to the polymer resin, thus "plum".

    Polite,.......sure no problem!
I paid $523.00, and that included shipping, and insurance.
Best I could find on this particular rifle.
Vector was using Polish parts kits for this previously, but have switched to the Bulgarian, which this one is, plus all of the compliance parts of course.
I believe the wood stocked version is the same price BTW.[;)]

    Thanks once again MVP.
I will look next time I strip it,........or just wait until the weekend to see if the old trigger finger gets slapped!
    Gee,.......I guess I could call also![:D][;)]
Dry firing though, it does not seem to be any more than 4 lbs. or so, that is purely opinion, and not from a scale.

So this weekend is the "real" test. [:D]

Rarely do I give kudos to a company, but I must say that Vector Arms seems to be a great company.
I called them to verify some info on my new AK, a bit ago.
It is a "virgin" Bulgarian, and does have the Tapco G2 trigger group.
He said they use that in all of their builds.
I mentioned about AK's being made for little short guys overseas, and he laughed, and told me to send my rear stock section back, and they would send me a NATO length rear for no charge.
This happened after asking him if the Tapco T-6 style would fit well on this rifle.
Seems like if anything happens to this thing in the next 5 years, they will fix it, no questions asked. I was also impressed by the simple fact of him asking what I thought of their product,........most "customer non-service" places don't go there anymore.
In case anyone is interested, after a question from me,.......he said that they are building them as fast as they can, and that even the owners of the company, are a bit concerned about Hillary, and another AWB!![}:)]

Yes, it will be a test, but not a torture test![:D]
I only have about 200 rounds of 7.62 SP left.
I just ordered another 1K of Wolf 124 grain FMJ, but it will not arrive until next Tuesday.
Should give me a feel for any "issues" though, and inherent accuracy of this particular rifle![;)]

sweet rifle, looks like you got yourself a pretty good AKM 7.62x39mm

    (slightly off topic here)
AK's with a stamped reciver are AKM's,.except the ones with a underfolder,. they would be AKMS's or the polomyer sidefolding stock,.like the AK-103 & AK-104. most folks refer to those as the "Century Series". AK-47's are usually considered to be the type 1,. type 2,. and type 3, with the 2's and 3's built on milled reciver.

i'll stop here before i get into the diffrent 5.45x39mm and 5.56x45mm rifles.
    (back on topic)

i have the U.S. made Plum on my AKS-74 clone i built it does not quite match the Plum Russian mags i have for it,.. but it is close enough,. as you can see from the picture there is a diffrence in color.

    plumed.jpg

now back to Vector,.. i have one of there milled AK-47's all i am gonna say is i F***ing love that rifle. Vector does a good job on all of there firearms,. i have a UZI made by them and it has been top notch since day one.

now fair warning,.. every AK i own (12,..soon to be 13) has had at least one problem with SP ammo,. they will all feed,. fire and extract,. but sooner or later i get a round that gets its soft lead point smashed against the bottom of the breach,..not saying the rifle will not function with that ammo,. but it might have a hiccup every once and a while,. every rifle is diffrent and yours may function fine with the SP ammo,.. just a heads up

to avoid that use the FMJ or even the HP ammo,..SP are prone to haveing issues

for this weekend make sure you bring the cleaning kit that should have come with the rifle,.. you can use the case of the kit and one of the tools inside to make elevation adjustments you your front sight post,.. a small "C" clamp and a socket (that fits over the sliding drum) will let you make windage adjustments as well. and if you are shooting at 100yds/m make sure you check your rear sight,.. the letter down at the bottom is for your battle sight setting 100-300m so just keep that in mind if you find yourself making a big elevation adjustments

if you want to learn about the AK do a internet search for "Krink Freak" its all about the AK[;)]

and dont forget to clean your new toy at least every thousand rounds,. no matter if it needs it or not.

cruzie,........thanks for all of that info!
Very nice one you have there![8D]
My polymer is not "plum",........it is black as pitch, as seen in the pic.
My new order of ammo IS FMJ, I am just going to shoot up the remaining SP that I have left.
I may get the Tapco collapsible stock set for this, that comes with the bigger pistol grip, and the "Galil" style forearm. I need to call them first to see if it is TRULY a no-mod install.
Anyway I am off to the range about noon,.............have to wait for a friend of mine that has to work half a day![;)]
