I suspect the extra $250 may get you the Don Johnson shoulder rig.
The reason it's expensive is because very few were made, and magazines were pretty much unavailable. Don Johnson, playing Sonny Crockett carried one in the first season of "Miami Vice" before he exchanged it for a custom 1911A!.
I had ordered one when I found out about the magazine problems and cancelled the order.

DON JOHNSON carried a smith and wesson 645 .45 auto stainless...i bought one back then because I liked it on the show.[:I]0 -
I remember when that was called the 40 G&A Magnum begfore they metricized it. Jeff Cooper was hot for the caliber because it was not a poodle shooting 9mm 0 -
