The American Rifleman had an article on the Mexican Rugers in July 2005.

There were not many photos, but from what I can see in the pictured ones, there was no comma between the "Armamex" and "Mexico."

Of the known 13 of these that exist, does anyone know how many have the comma?

While it is entirely possible (actually quite probable) that there are a few of these sitting in old men's closets; I can't help but recalling my thinking when I read the American Rifleman article that it wouldn't be too difficult for someone to try to modify a regular old standard Ruger by adding a few stampings. "Forgeries" by adding or deleting markings on firearms is actually quite common.

That comment is NOT meant to imply that WVBUGMAN is engaged in any deception. He has listed a very rare firearm; it would be to his advantage to try to authenticate it as much as possible if he is interested in getting the true value for what may be a very collectable item. If the pistol were examined by those with expert knowledge on these, and if he could organize some brief biography about his father-in-law that could explain how he gained possession of the gun, he is more likely to get a much better price.

    Edit for spelling.
