Tawana Brawley
I was thinking about the Rev Al and the above case. It seems like I remembered him telling a companion (possibly JJ), too close to an open mike: that "we're the biggest black persons in NY."
Do any of you old timers remember anything about the case? For new guys, do a search and read the transcripts about what happened. The rev Sharpton was at his finest. Tom

I see the auto cencor got me. He did not say "black". but no matter. What I was getting at is he can get Imus fired and wants to clean up lyrics in songs, etc, but the words from his own mouth show his true beliefs. You must do what he says, not what he does. Tom 0 -
i remember it, also bill cosby put up 5 grand to catch these racist white criminals 0 -

On November 28, 1987, Tawana Brawley, a 15-year-old black girl, was found smeared with feces, lying in a garbage bag, her clothing torn and burned and with various slurs and epithets written on her body in charcoal. Brawley claimed she had been assaulted and raped by six white men, some of them police officers, in the village of Wappingers Falls, New York.
Attorneys Alton H. Maddox and C. Vernon Mason joined Sharpton in support of Brawley. A grand jury was convened; after seven months of examining police and medical records, the jury determined that Brawley had fabricated her story. Sharpton, Maddox and Mason accused the Dutchess County prosecutor, Steven Pagones, of racism and of being one of the perpetrators of the alleged abduction and rape. The three were successfully sued for slander and ordered to pay $345,000 in damages, the jury finding Sharpton liable for making seven defamatory statements about Pagones, Maddox for two and Mason for one0 -
I carefully followed the Tawana Brawley case. I learned that Al Sharpton was a hustler, a liar, and a con man.
I figured he would be humiliated, and his career in public life would be over. Oh, no, his career was just beginning.
I am astonished and dismayed to see him interviewed on otherwise respectable shows. Even Glen Beck did an interview with him.
Sharpton is a real p.o.s.0 -

Could not agree more,.............and nothing to do with the fact that he is black.[;)]0 -
Yeah, but that helps.

That incident took place in Wappingers Falls, NY at the White Gate Apartments. I grew about 2 miles from there. It seems that Twanna had a father that would hit her for coming home late. Well she was out late one night and decided to concoct this story that she was raped by two white cops and that they put her in a garbage bag full of feces. It was actually her friends that crapped on her which she later revealed in court. The entire scam ruined the area and racial tendencies still run rampant there. I moved into the hill shortly after that incident. The Reverend Al had many "a scope" cross hairs pointed at him during those days. He held a march on a Monday morning on one of the bridges that connects Poughkeepsie to Highland that created huge traffic jams. After it came out that the entire thing was made up, he never once apologized. He and all his followers are criminals and big pieces of crap ! Twannas lawyer, I think his name was Mason was one of the biggest thief's in the area. They are all hated in that town. 0 -

too bad it made him a hero in "their" eyes, can't wait till he becomes a martyr0 -
How many outrages does it take for the black community to reject one of their own crooked, lying, race-baiting hustlers? Instead Sharpton is elevated to the position of respected elder statesman.
For those who vote Democrat (not that the Republicans are much better) remember that is the party who embraces and accepts Sharpton, Jackson, Ted Kennedy (drown Mary Jo),etc. Does anyone with an ounce of character want to be associated with scum like that?0 -
