Right now. From here in Okla. we can see some kind of sattalite or something right next to it on the right side. Never seen anything like it before.

Mars and the full Moon shine very close together tonight! Which is hardly surprising - they're both very close to opposition, opposite the Sun in the sky, so they have to appear close together.
In fact, the full Moon will occult (cover) Mars as seen from the northwestern tip of the US, westernmost Canada, and Alaska early this evening, and as seen from northern and eastern Europe very late tonight (on the morning of the 24th). Here are some times of Mars's disappearance and reappearance on the Moon's edges: at Seattle, 5:44, 5:59 p.m. PST; Edmonton, 6:49, 7:10 p.m. MST; Anchorage, 4:53, 5:40 p.m. AST. Mars is at opposition tonight: rising around sunset, shining highest overhead around midnight, and setting around sunrise. During evening, Mars is that bright thing shining upper right of the Moon.
Christmas star: This week brilliant Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, rises around 7 or 8 p.m. (depending on where you live in your time zone). Orion's Belt points down nearly to its rising point, showing just where to watch for it. When Sirius is very low it often twinkles in vivid, flashing colors, an effect that binoculars reveal especially clearly. Mars, much higher up, outshines Sirius just a little this week - but Mars doesn't twinkle

I just got back in from a viewing session. It's big! the atmosphere here has just enough disturbance to mess up a detail image.
Even thou I am around a ton of light pollution (city lights) the Andromeda Galaxy M31 and M110 could be picked out. I had a ton of fun with my new Celestron CPC 1100 Xlt.[:D]

My son took one of the telescopes home with him last week, so he could view this event. It will be a while before it happens again. 0
