Grandpa's Helmet
Finally got pictures done of my Grandpa's helmet from WWI. He was in the 80th Division 317th Infantry, and had his helmet painted while on-board the ship coming home after the war. Thought they were pretty cool, so figured I'd post 'em up here.

I love it! Thanks for sharing. I wish I had something from my Grandpa's WWII time. He got a Purple Heart at Normandy. Unfortuantely, my homosexual uncle ended up with that.[V] 0 -

My sister has the few surviving pics of him. I've got his WWI uniform jacket, and will do some pics of that up as well. My dad has, and still uses Grandpas canteen. I've "suggested" that he just carry a newer one when he is out, but dad says he's used it for over 70 years, and doesn't see a need to change now [:D]
Gramps died in 1969, but I remember him talking a little bit about the war. The only thing that I remember clearly was talking about anti-aircraft guns, and he told me "our anti-aircraft guns were shotguns".
Here are pics of the bayonet he brought back. I've had them on PB for a while now.
