I remember when charity auctions attracted a lot of attention and bids from folks here on the forum side of Gun Broker.

I think too many ppl have been ripped off by charities and now the word charity leaves a bad taste ...

Add in the fact that money is very tight for a lot of ppl right now, being just after christmas etc..

...I think the last charity auction that did really well was juju's, so, so, long ago.

This might, or might not, have something to do with it. Many of the charity auctions in the past, were items donated by members in these forums, where the proceeds were used to help a member(s) "here" in these forums, or someone close to them. The proceeds from the present auctions are going to a local food bank, in Texas. I'm sure "most" of us have local food banks that we can/do donate to. While being a VERY WORTHY cause, it might not be drawing the interest that helping a member who is down on his/her luck, would draw. Not quite as "personal" if you know what I mean. Like I said, maybe, maybe not, just a thought.
