Anyone ever had this happen?

A recent thread about a wife vetoeing a sale got me to thinking.

The other day I received a slick ad in the mail, advertising a 1 in 500 Henry lever action, 24k gold plated American Indian commemorative. Price was $2395, $195 to reserve and $100 per mo., interest free until paid for. It is a beautiful gun and I'd like to have a lever action.

My wife saw me looking and said, "If you want it, go ahead and buy it. You deserve it."

I told her that I would prefer a gun I could shoot, and I wouldn't be able to shoot a collector gun. But I do think I put one in the bank for future use.

    Wives, you know, are a pretty tricky bunch.

    Sounds like she has something in mind for after you buy the gun, so be extra careful.......[:X][}:)][;)]

    You can get some awefully nice shooters for $2400. Plus there is no way that will ever go up in value!

    Don't know who sent it. I threw it in the trash. I don't think it was NRA. I don't belong.

    My wife is very supportive of my gun collecting addiction. One time I was offered a scarce example of one of the make revolvers I collect. I turned it down because I felt the price was a bid high. A couple days later I was moaning and groaning about the owner wanting too much for the gun. Wife asked me if I had the money to get it. Told her I did. She then told me I better go ahead and pay his price or I would be sorry later. Either someone else would buy it and in a week call me wanting even more for it or I would never get another chance to get one. She was right, I bought it, and in the 15 years since have not seen another example like it for sale. [:)] [:p]

    Sometimes, when we are out just goofing off in town, the wife suggests stopping at a gun store, or pawn shop, when she knows I'm looking for something. I forget about stopping half the time.
