USFS Wants to Ban Shooting in NF "In Colorado"

Looks like there will be a hearing at the State Capitol in Denver next Wednesday June 20 at 1:00 pm in the House Hearing Rooms. The subject is shooting on USFS land -- they are trying to eliminate it. Would you please spread the word for me among your contacts -- and if anyone wants more info I'll try to get it for them.

The meeting was called by the USFS and may be attended by BLM, NPS, etc. also but I'm not sure. Those who are asked to come are the 48 members of the CO House and Senate who signed a letter to USFS raising the concern that USFS is threatening to take away this use of our public lands. Interested parties are encouraged to attend this hearing.

I got this VIA Email from one of my local shooting buddies, he retired from the Forest Service, and i havn't been able to get ahold of him yet to verifiy this.Has anyone in the Denver area caught wind of this.

    They have a valid argument. Some of the lesser representatives of the gun community have set some bad examples.

    Have not heard of this meeting. Wonder where a person is supposed to find out about it.

    They don't want shooters in attendance, to defend their use of the land.

    This article is a little dated (March-07) but this topic is important to recreational shooters everywhere. This isn't the first time this issue has come up here, and it's coming to a town near you.
