I emailed my state senator and representative. Here's a copy of the email I sent; I modified appropriatly for my representative:

    quote:Dear Mr. Jauch,

I have recently read of Governer Doyle's plans to pass restrictive firearms laws in the State of Wisconsin, and I would like to convey my opinion on the matter to you.

I, as a voting, tax-paying, life-long resident of the State of Wisconsin, and a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and as a resident of Sawyer County, feel that any laws restricting ownership and sale to any and all citizens who meet or exceed the current regulations violate the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America.

I did not voulenteer to defend my country from all enemies, both foreign and domestic, to have my rights, and the rights of my fellow Americans taken away by an elected Governer, or Legislature. The Bill of Rights, being part of the Constitution, is part of what I swore to protect, with my life, if need be. I do not want to see my sacrifices go to waste because of a law that could possibly, and perminatly restrict firearm ownership to upstanding citizens in any way, shape, and/or form.

Please encourage Governer Doyle, on my behalf, to reconsider his position on this matter, and please, if it comes up to a vote in the Wisconsin State Senate, vote against it.

    Thank you for your time.

    Respectfully,

Just one more reason why Doyle will never get my vote. I'm thinking of sending him an email simply saying, "You suck."

    Here's Senator Jauch's reply:

    quote:Dear Jacob:

Thank you for your thoughts. Most specifically, thank you for your service to our country.

Governor Doyle is entitled to his opinion on this matter but I disagree with him. I am opposing consideration of this legislation and am confident that it will not be debated on the Senate floor. While I disagree with him I do acknowledge as well the serious problems of violent crime with firearms, particularly in our urban communities. However, I believe adding more law enforcement and taking aggressive steps to improve the safety of our communities will be far more effective.

Thank you again for your comments.

    Bob Jauch
    State Senator
