NRA Warning!
I don't work for the NRA. I have been a member since the 1960's and I have been surprised at the recent complaints about "why isn't the NRA doing something."
The complaints were in this forum so I ask with respect to the forum moderators to bear with me and allow this reply to stand on this forum.
Of course they warned us about the voting records of all the recent folks who got relected and what would happen if Congress was under Democratic control. The NRA tries to not play favorites to either party, they have many friends on both sides of the isle.
In the February 2007 "American Rifleman" the NRA issued a serious "Warning" in an article entitled "Unleashed" many of you may have read it and if so click off and ignore my post.
The summary of the article is this: "The enemies of our right to keep and bear arms have taken power in Congress, and their war on gun owners is coming-the only question is when." That's the reality that gun owners face today. Because, although few know about it, the danger is real and imminent and mounting-and the only way to survive it with out freedoms intact is to dig in and deploy our defenses today. "If you care about your rights and you want to protect them, its crucial that you act now," "You can bet there's a legislative avalanche headed our way, but it'll be too late to take cover once that avalanche hits." "With so many vital committees and subcommittees chaired by anti-gun extremists, our job in this new Congress is likely to be monumental, We need your help, and we need it now."
With many key committee chairs and positions of power held by anti-gun members, there's a very real danger that they could hijack Congress and turn it into their own gun-ban juggernaut. "The greatest danger of all, " LaPierre said," is that gun owners won't realize it until the fix is in and the damage is done. By then, it'll be too late to muster our defenses.
The Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Courts-Now chaired by one of the most anti-gun politicians on Capitol Hill, Brooklyn gun-ban extremist New York Senator Charles Schumer. Schumer has built his career on attempting to dismantle the Second Amendment Right to Keep and Bear Arms. He is now also the chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. He doles out the cash.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee-is now chaired by anti-gun Joe Bidon of Delaware. He now can approve or reject our UN reps and assesses UN treaties. Like Schumer, Biden voted to expose the lawfull firearm industry to crippling lawsuits; to extend and expand the Clinton gun bans; to allow a ban on hunting-rifle ammunition.
Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology and Homeland Security. Now chaired by Dianne Feinstein from San Francisco. It was Feinstein who attached the gun bans to the Clinton-Schumer crime bill in 1994. She will do all in her power to blame firearm freedom for terrorism; to propose eye-in-the sky surveillance and registration regimes on honest gun owners like you; and to push gun bans as her own brand of Homeland Security.
From Barbara Boxer, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry and Ted Kennedy in terms of Second Amendment freedom, the US Senate could become the greatist prohibitive body on earth.
In the House of Representatives it is hard to imagine a more anti-gun leadership. Nancy Pelosi has been in congress for 19 years and has voted against gun owners 98% of the time. Anti-gun leaders under her are Steny Hoyer of Maryland, James Clyburn of South Carolina, Rahm Emanuel of Illinois, John Larson of Conn.
Chairman of the crucial House Judiciary Commitee now headed by anti-gun John Conyers of Michigan. The first committee in which gun ban schemes either languish or take on a life of their own. Conyers often blames firearms instead of violent felons for crime! He has repeatedly called for a total ban on all handguns, and over his congressional career has voted against gun rights 97% of the time. He states that the Second Amendment confers no individual rights at all.
The House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution. Chaired by anti-gun Jerrold Nadler of New York City. Voting against gun rights 92% of the time. Nadler would find new and creative ways to re-define the Second Amendment out of our Constitution. Nadler was a loud and insistent opponent of reform and repeatedly called the legislation to bar the confiscation of firearms from citizens during states of emergency insane.
The House Ways and Means Committee now chaired by Charles Rangel anti-gun Congressman from New York. He has teamed up with New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg on gun control measures.
The House rules Committee is now chaired by the anti-gun Congresswoman Louise Slaughter of New York. This committee is the "traffic cop" it dictates which bills go to the floor, how much testimony and how many amendments will be allowed. She now has a unique position to push her anti-gun agenda.
This folks is only a small portion of the article giving us details of the anti-gun push to expect in this Congress. Read the article and do what you can to join forces with groups trying to stem the rising tide of anti-gun laws that are coming our way.[:0][:0]

VOTE TANCREDO OR GINGRICH !!! 0 -
Y'now what...
I almost think that Zumbo's blunder may actually be a blessing in disguise. I believe gun owners are asleep at the wheel (not always by their own doing as often times the willing accomplices in the liberal media doesn't always publish what is going on in local and state legislatures or the federal congress for that matter) as these Anti-Gun Nazi's keep getting voted into office.
With the backlash of epic proportions has "hit the fan" over Mr. Zumbo's unfortunate prior beliefs or rather the lack of having his mind opened to a new idea, he has inadvertently brought-to-bear the full wrath and fury of the American gun owners.
The fervor is so strong right now that there is a new scrutiny that all the Anti's agenda is being held to along with those that may propagate such an agenda.
Our collective ire has been raised and we are all on a newly incensed alert! That is a good thing...
What I see as a bad thing is the way we are infighting and are now cannibalizing one of our own. If we could only bring to bear the kind of power and might that has within a couple of days destroyed Mr. Zumbo's 40 + year career of service to our side... I only hope we can fire-for-effect and sink the Bismark of liberal/socialist gun control as well.
We all need to let our representatives and government officials know we are keeping an eye on them and we need to let them know we WILL be holding their feet to the fire, so they had better tow the line!0 -

I'll see if I can locate a Mannlicher Carcano...0 -
Best part is the NRA has stated & endorses the 2007 AWB2!!!!
Scumbags...If your not a Elmer Fudd, they dont want you, period.
Thanks but not thanks, we dont need the NRA's help on this.
We will get sold out again as in the AWB1, no thanks to the NRA.0 -

Then I hope we can count on you to support GOA or your local state shooting organization! As I said before we need to show strength like we never have done it before and it can be any organization that puts up a good fight.[:0][:0]0 -
I made this a sticky for a little while. We really need to wake up to the threat the Dems pose and we've got to organize to fight the upcoming assault on our Constitution. We need to "Zumbo" these people and their agenda. We are at a critical point right now... 0 -
I am a registered democrat, and have been doing my best for a few years to spread F.U.D. -Fear Uncertainty and Doubt- among their ranks, whenever and whereverI can.
I think all of us should join anti-gun organizations to make an effort to confuse them.
Any thoughts??

The NRA is really sleeping with the enemy. They compromise away too much. All "real" Americans (and I think you know exactly who I mean) should be able to buy as many guns ,of whatever type of guns that our little hearts desire. Remember, the entire herd is not going to make it...some must be thinned out. I have been in the NRA for 36 years and I have watched them give our rights away.General Patton said: "Compromise is weakness." This is still true...the NRA is weak!
I agree that if the NRA only has 3 million of the 80 million gun owners that they are in fact "very weak!" But that can be changed!
Remember if they had 80 million members would they then be "weak" and would they be forced to compromise and deal over the details!
I think not!!!![:0]0 -

Not sure it does much good... I'm not sure you can really confuse the demented.
Seriously though, I believe that putting efforts into the positive and being honest and forthright, always has a far better and a more positive outcome than spending efforts in negativity or obfuscation of truth or to scheme and disseminate disinformation for ulterior motives.
One of my core beliefs is that part of why we will eventually overcome or at least stave off the onslaught of the Anti's is that when push comes to shove, their policies and positions are indefensible.0 -

I have guns, i shoot guns, i like guns. That is a BIG reason why i live where i do, so i can shoot and nobody can say crap! I like guns but am not a "GUN GUY" or fanatic. I respectfully want to say that y'all seem to be a little paranoid as most "GUN GUYS" are, just relax guys. Breathe! Nobody's taking your arms and if they were, i'm sure you already have plenty to defend yourselves. Plus, most likely soldiers will be sent to disarm you and 1 crazy dude with a gun is not going to take out a group of trained soldiers or even SWAT. No offense but i see my brother get himself worked up all the time and he looks like he's going to pop a fricken vein in his head! Breathe dudes! 0 -

Some of the firearms (Probably most) of the firearms people have are not registered, not required to be registered, illegal, or handed down from pa and Uncle SCAM don't even know they exist. Everything that i have ever Purchased new, i've either sold or traded so what are the gonna do? Take a pistol away that i sold in 1997 or the snubby that i gave to mommy in law? C'mon, be cautious but not crazy. you'll loose your thinking abilities a soon ye get all fired up. It's one thing to get a few reliable weapons and put them aside and another to waste all your energy thinking, reading, and whining about it. 0 -

Do you even realize how many of your firearm RIGHTS that have already been stripped from you???? We have over 20,000 un-Constitutional laws on the books right now...and they keep chipping away. It's time to wake up...before it's too late.0 -
well, i'd say that you know a lot more than i do but today i was at a pawn shop looking for some tools and i saw some AR type looking weapons that were not cheap but attainable and i figured that the guns laws ain't that bad if they were sold in a pawn shop. They seemed easy enough to look at or purchase.
My brother and my best bud think it's getting crazy and they are going to come to my little farm and fight the government someday. I'll repeat the SAMETHING i told my brother and best friend, you can have 10 ak's and it won't do you a bit of good when a PROFESSIONAL sharpshooter snaps you in the face from a location you don't even know. These people train to shoot you, it's there job. Just like they couldn't just go to my job and be better than me just because they read some Hvac magazines and bought a welding rig. The momonet you take off in the woods with a gun they will become happy because they
have been waiting for the day when the get to blast some renneck that thinks he's a badazz cuz he hunts deer every year. Kinda like being in the ocean with a buncha sharks, you'd be in their turf. No offense i just call it how i see it.0 -

...not only are you missing the point, but you fail to realize that man, if not most of us "gun nuts" are vets and combat vets...we know the drill and we can get the job done.
Our military will never take a stand against our Constitution...they ALL have sworn an oath to defend it...against enemies foreign and DOMESTIC.

well, when you die. I told ya so. I don't think you are wrong, just a lil too uptight. When alcohol was banned it was still around so will guns be. I just don't feel the need to bite my nails over it tis all. The one freaking out is who gets everyone noticed. 0 -

There are suppose to be federal laws prohibiting the use of "military force" against US citizens. Obviously the precedence was set by the Clintons @ Waco, TX. The sad thing is, no one has ever brought them to justice for that infraction and act of oppression and tyranny.
Therefore, I am worried that future such acts (especially if Hillary were to get elected) can and will happen again!
I can only pray that the American people will care enough and be aware enough to the peril we will face if she were to be elected and sees to it that it doesn't happen.0 -

Then you have been in violation of a number of recently (a decade or so) passed federal firearms laws that prohibit the personal trade and sale of firearms that must go thru the "books" of a licensed FFL dealer, which can if they ever decide to pursue this anti-gun avenue, instantly make you a felon, and therefore, instantly disqualify you from legally owning or possessing firearms. Unless we do something real to repeal and remove these draconian tyrannical laws, we are living on borrowed time.
I am not specifically conscious of the exact laws, especially since I have been so bombarded by such anti-gun draconian overt over regulation here in The Peoples Republic of Massachusetts, that I get so confused as to what is Federal law vs what is state law.
You need to familiarize yourself with the Massachusetts state firearms laws and educate yourself to exactly what will be coming Federally/nationally as MASS is a testing playground of the liberal socialist elitist who would rule the free world given the opportunity. It is already here and it will be coming forthwith if Hillary is to get elected! John Kerry and Ted Kennedy have been instrumental in pushing and orchestrating these overtly dictatorial regulations in this scorched earth testing grounds of Massachusetts. Who is a more vocal representation of the liberal agenda??? No one more so than the Senators and Representatives of Massachusetts and New York; the world capital of liberalism.0 -
Well renneck, it seems that even though your moniker denotes some sort of countryfied existence; you still don't know how to cook a frog.
A frog (or in this case an unaware & unaffiliated gun owner) will sit in a pan of warm water, complacent and trusting. As you turn up the heat, the frog won't even move around. After about 10 minutes, the water is boiling, and the frog is cooked.
You don't have to get all worked up about your gun rghts disappearing under your nose; they will continue to be taken away until one morning you'll wake up and there will be no 2nd Amendment, no legal civilian ownership of firearms of any sort (don't believe it can happen? Look at England and Australia),and the responsible among us will have fought the good fight for the overwhelming majority that do nothing (AGAIN!).0 -
We must take our new found resolve, IE the wrath and swift smiting that has been brought-to-bear on Jim Zumbo, and direct it at the anti-gun leftist socialist elitists.
If we can do what we have done to Jim Zumbo, why can't we do the same to Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, John Kerry, or any of them?
We must!!!
Yes, I know, Sarah Brady and her ilk will publicly spout Jim Zumbo's statement and words as a reason to promote much, if not all, of their anti-gun agenda and legislation, but, his current public statements, words, writings, and further future film, video, writings and words, can be brought-to-bear to refute the assertions of the anti-gun left, and I believe it is and will be part of his new mission in life to makes sure of exactly that. That wherever someone uses those ignorant, mis-informative words, he will be there to say, that was wrong, I was wrong, and here is the truth and what is right. I also know that many others that are noteworthy, such as Ted Nugent will be watching for just such misuse and abuse of his words and will unleash the mystical flight of the arrow to quell that insurrection by giving Mr. Zumbo the public platforms needed to get the words out.
Therefore, we MUST redirect our energy and efforts towards the real enemies of our American culture, liberties, and values.
Let's do this!!!0 -

American_Nimrod,
What you are referring to is the Insurrection Act, along with the Posse Comitatus Act. A set of laws that "strictly limit(ed)" the President's ability to deploy troops within the United States. The two acts HAD historically helped to enforce strict prohibitions on military involvement in domestic law enforcement. Sadly this is no longer the case.
Public Law 109-364, or the "John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007" (H.R.5122)
was signed into law on October 17th, 2006 by Bush. This new law allows the President to declare a "public emergency" and station troops anywhere in America and take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of the governor or local authorities.
Bush tried at least twice before to pass such a law. First just after 911 using terrorism as the reason. When that didn't fly, he CHANGED HIS REASON for wanting such a law. He then tried to get it passed with the bird flu pandemic scare, as the reasoning. Again it failed. Why did it passed this time around? See bold print below.
Shortly after passing this law, "Senator Leahy entered into the Congressional Record that he had "grave reservations about certain provisions of the fiscal Year 2007 Defense Authorization Bill Conference Report," the language of which, he said, "subverts solid, longstanding Posse Comitatus statutes that limit the military's involvement in law enforcement, thereby making it easier for the President to declare martial law." This had been "slipped in," Leahy said, "as a rider with little study," while "other congressional committees with jurisdiction over these matters had no chance to comment, let alone hold hearings on, these proposals." SURPRISE SURPRISE
You have to ask yourself, why the president felt the need to circumvent the Posse Comitatus and Insurrection Act? Why does he want to make it easier for the President to declare martial law and trample on local and state sovereignty? Forgetting about Bush for a minute, consider, he opened the doors for FUTURE presidents to be able to do this. Even if you trust Bush, future presidents having this unprecedented power, is a SCARY thought.0
