Results of the Physical or the annual poke-n-prod
Went to the poke-n-prod yesterday (physical) and came out okay. My EKG was the same as it had been 3 years ago, yes I did wait too long to get my 'yearly' physical. I am relatively healthy for an ugly, bald, wrinkled, near-sighted, old fella. Still waiting on the blood work results and the doctor wants me to go take a stress test. I'm waiting to hear from the other doctor to see when they want to schedule it. I have a feeling since mine is not in the emergency catagory I'll not be able to have it anytime soon as I'll be off on the road more than likely.
My blood pressure was right on the border of being high. I have been hovering in the range of 140/90 +- for about two years now. Well actually it has been working it's way up to that for about two years. Up 'til the last few years it was always 128/90, always. Age and my weight seem to be catching up to me. Anyway the doctor said that I should take my BP several times a day (we have a BP machine left over from when the wife's parents were alive) and average it out over some time. I'll probably end up on BP medication if I don't lose weight (I've been trying) or some other factor doesn't change for the good.
They also said I should have a pneumonia shot. Don't know when that shot came available. It's like a Tetenus shot in that it is good for about seven years. S'posed to protect you against a certain bacteria with one of those long Latin names that has "..pneumo..." somewhere in it. I can still get pneumonia but not from that bacteria, doncha know. When the woman who gave me that shot drew blood, what an ordeal. It was like she stuck me with a 18 penney nail. Where do they get these experts in torture methods?
Also went to the dentist yesterday, got in because the wife called and they had a cancelation. Had the teeth cleaned and X-rayed. No cavities. They joked with me I was on the 'five year plan' because the last time I had been in was 2002. I really didn't realize it was that long ago. Going out working on the road kinda throws your perspective/memory of such events off. When I was leaving one of the hygenists said, "See you in 2012.".
So I'm healthy as I can hope to be and not unhappy about the overall results. Okay for a guy who's almost 57. Getting these two things out of the way gives some peace of mind. Tho' I hope I can get the stress test before I have to leave to go somewhere.
Oh yea, in that regard I'm looking into a corn processing design job in Iowa. Right on the river somewhere across from Illinois. Another possibility.

--Because of my "careers" I've been Monitored for quite a few years, your physical seems GENERALLY ok, but 140/90 is not just on the edge anymore, especially if taken in the afternoon-it's HIGH--
--your morning BP on a normal/medium stress/medium pressure/medium work WEEK, will BELIEVE IT OR NOT, measure the highest !!!!
--thats why your doc tells you to take BP(self) tests for weeks and average results, but morning is usually highest becsuse your heart WORKS at night while you are asleep CLEANING SYSTEMS (ask your doc)
NOW
In summary you may start taking a daily dose of HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE . THIS IS A (WATER PILL) FOR HYPERTENSION
the doc will probably tell you !
A few years ago, before I FINALLY retired my afternoon BP averaged 160/90-I started taking 1/2 of these (25MG)pills and now my avg BP is 128/70--

Yes I've had my roto-rooter, probably need another in about 3-4 years.
The BP I mentioned was + or - It goes from 134/84 to 144/98 depending on the time of day and what I've been doing or who has aggrivated me. So, tho' I'm not takeing the meds now I see them in my future.0 -
Your still alive and kickin.
That's a good thing. [:D]0
