Anyone else commune with the Gun Gods today?
I got up early this morning . as usual.
The little woman and Abby slept in later than usual.
My son didn't come over for coffee . which is a little unusual.
So I'd been up for about 2 hours, checked the Weather channel .
. perfect day [:)]
Checked the range schedule .
. Cowboy shooters on range 4 . which is fine, pistol ranges are 1 & 2 Hi-power is range 3 [:)]
About 8am .
I knew I wanted to take the SiG-556 and try out the new rear sight . I was afraid it might be too tall but needed to confirm it.
Looking in the safe, trying to decide what else to take, the AUG hadn't seen the range in over a year . so she was going.
Haven't had much trigger time on the PS-90 . and I just got a shell-plate for the 5.7x28 for my Dillon which means I can start reloading as soon as I empty out some brass.
I haven't shot any 308 in over a year . but decided 3 long guns would be enough to clean.
Of course any trip to the range calls for handguns .
. so I took a my favorite Kimber 45 and a little Beretta M70 .22
Except the rear sight for the 556 is too tall . but I packed my AimPoint just in case.
No other problems ... no FTF's, no FTE's
The Gun Gods smiled on me . it was a great day [:D]

Nice! Wish I would have been with ya!
Except of course at the end when you had to clean them.0 -
Yes, Went to the range today, but only shot 4 rounds of trapp. Sat we are taking the rifles and Wed there is a 4th of July pistol match. So the next week and a half should be fun.[:D] 0 -
Sounds like a great day. Going to a "make a donation for medical bills" skeet shoot for the weekend of the 4th. Can't wait. 0 -
did the old mizer safe inventory. touched them. thats all. [:p] 0 -
Shot 100 or so rounds of .22 offhand practicing for our rifle league and rezeroed my 22-250 for my new load (also used for the league). Less than 1/2 inch 3 shot groups at 100 and JUST over 1 inch at 200.
Maybe I can score a little better this week.[B)][:I]0 -
Good to hear you had a good day. 0 -
Sounds like you had a great day! I haven't done any shooting in over a month. BUT...the 4th of July I am taking the kids to the farm, along with the sons 7mm/08 and 243, my Ruger 22 pistol, my daughters 410 and my son's Browning Sweet 16 and LOTS of clay pigeon to throw for them. Son just got back from Boy Scout camp where he qualified for his rifle and shotgun merit badges. He was very excited, and had a huge bruise on his right shoulder from all the shotgun shooting he had done that week. He proudly had to show it to his mom! Can't wait!! [:p] 0 -
And it just keeps getting better!
Right after posting this, Abby came in and asked when I was going to take her shooting again . the little woman was at work, so I told her "Right now!"
I grabbed some balloons and her Cricket .22 and we headed out the door (thanks again MN Hunter [:)])
This time we shot some Remington Sub-Sonic and didn't get as much recoil ("jump" as she calls it) that you get with Hi-Velocity ammo.
We started out with balloons (thanks for that idea Nwcid), then some paper targets then some more balloons . I need to get some bigger paper targets as she barely hit them and felt bad she didn't hit the X . I told her it would come with time.
My goal was to just get her more comfortable with the gun . she's a very girley girl [:X] and really didn't like the recoil the first time out [B)]
On the way home we stopped at Sheridan's and got some frozen custard!
What a great day.0 -
I took the kid to camp and drove by a range today. Does that count?
Good to hear Abby got to shoot some too.0
