Buyer remorse..?
Does this sound legit..? I just had a GB bidder write me and say..:
"A person I have staying with us has bid on this item under my user name.
Please disregard this bid as it was made without my consent. Thank you.:"
The bid was placed just less than 3hrs. before the auction end, and
He contacted me just minutes before the auction ended.

i assume he won the auction, if so i would reply nicely and let him know you have a fee to pay, and now you have to re list it, and wait even longer to make the sale 0 -
It is not worth your headache to wreck the guys' feedback, and risk having him do the same. Relist it, and consider yourself lucky that you hadn't already shipped it and were looking at a much larger mess. 0 -

I told the guy that he needs to better guard his account, and sent him an invoice..0 -
If there is no other bidder just ask him to cover the re-listing fees. I think it would be fair. 0 -

Well, his reply to my invoice was:
"I apologize for the misrepresentation, but I had no reason to believe this guy was using my account. He is currently out of work, and can not afford to buy anything. Please accept my apology and know that I have since locked up my computer to avoid future issues.
Thank you."
I wrote back that if he'd send us a little ($10.?) to cover the fees we'd call it even.<shrug>0 -

I agree with the guy that told you to just let it go. He's either a wimp or he's telling the truth. Either way, there's nothing to be gained on your part by pushing the issue and having to live with any bad karma created by doing so. It just isn't worth the grief/stress either to yourself or to him for you to hound him about it.
GB may allow you to relist the gun without charge. Even if they don't, just let it go and relist your gun.
Don't let stuff like this ruffle you. Cancel your invoice to him and move on.0 -

i hate it when people lie to me also. just pisses me off. like the guy i won a 600.00 dollar scope from for .26 cents. told me he sold it in the store. ya right. i would have let him off the hook if he had just been honest with me and told me hey i dont want to sell the scope for that amount. i wouldnt have blammed him one bit. give him a f feed back. i hate it when people say its not worth leaving bad feedback. how the hell are we sapose to know what kinda people are bidding on or selling stuff in every one give a good feedback even with bad service. 0 -

New buyers need to learn the rules the hard way. Bid was placed. How/why is not your problem. Give the F and you don't have to pay to relist or worry about his response.. 0 -
On another auction site I once bid on a VHS tape thinking it was a DVD (it was seconds from slosing and I read through to fast). I sent the seller a message asking if I could pay his listing fees, and explained my mistake. He asked that I pay double the listing fee to pay for relist and I agreed.
I think that is a more than reasonable compromise. If he does not agree to that, give him the negative feedback and move on.0 -
I guess that's what I'll end up doing. I gave him the option of covering the fees and he declined, saying:
"I'm truly sorry, but I can't pay for nothing. Besides, the re-listing fee would at least be covered by whomever would purchase it when it is re-listed. I know this is probably an insult, but I'll give you $10 for the knife and $10 for shipping if you want and if you take PayPal (my wife would probably throw a fit about even $20 for a knife). My wife may be able to give it to her father for Christmas (I don't know if he's in to custom knives or not). I just have no interest in custom knives, and no real use for one (except maybe as a gift).
If this is not satisfactory and you have to leave me a negative feedback, then I understand."0 -

To get credit for the selling fees (yes, you can do that) you have to leave him negative feedback. Then simply relist and put a blurb that the previous high bidder had other obligations.

I think you have the right to post an "F" for non-payment and also the moral obligation to let other potential sellers know what type of buyer they're dealing with. 0 -

I'd give him the F, so others know at this point.
I also think the "loser" was actually him, and he got caught by the wife. She told him he is dead unless he gets out of the purchase.
God, am I glad I don't have to live that way!
Other sellers deserve to know what this guy did though, IMHO![;)]0
