I wondered how long it would take for someone to post about the Armed and Famous show. I actually live in Muncie IN, and am a Paramedic for Delaware County EMS, (911 ambulance service for Muncie/Delaware Co.) and i've had the chance to take calls with the entire cast. OF ALL, i'm highly impressed with Jack Osborn. He is very down to earth and serious with his role as a Police Officer. He is pretty highly regarded by the other officers who are just working the streets. Wee-Man is literally a freak, I had to hand him a blanket for a chick with no wearable clothing he had to arrest due to a warrant and it was like handing it to my 7 year old neighbor. LaToya.... now there is someone who is a complete space cadet. (she never EVER pumped gas until she started with MPD) "Ponch" is very cool and hilarious. I saw him in the emergency room and as soon as he got out of public ear sight he kind of threw his clip board down on a counter and yelled out "What the F--K is wrong with these people!!!!!". I heard he had human feces thrown at him during the call that placed him there. (I had never laughed so hard in my life, especially since it was someone that I grew up watching on television; kind of like seeing your kindergarden teacher drinking at a bar or something, just funny and strange) I've been on camera 6 or 7 times so far but i'm not too sure if they were good enough to air. That was my supervisor who pulled the barbs out of trish....if I had I probably would have needed a moment(<--"I swear to God man I would"). I could use some feed back though. Our local paper has a web forum and there is a slight consensous that our town will be protrayed as an "imbred town". I dont think so due the population that uses or needs the police department. Help me out on that one. Thank you,

That show is a farce....Take someone who is an egomaniac, always had whatever they wanted, give them a few hrs training as a cop and let them on the street?? Add in the producers/directors/investors "make it more "interesting, " and you have trouble...
The show Cops is bad enough with some of the cops showing the "macho" side, but now this?...NO thanks..0 -

I am from Lafayette, IN, but I went to good 'ol BSU for my B.S. and my M.P.A. I for one am not going to watch the show. I am boycotting it. I am now a reserve Deputy with the White County Sheriff's Office and I feel that they are making a mockery of that job and the City of Muncie. The only things that make good TV for a show like that are the ones that show Muncie in a bad light.
Now I don't have a problem with Erik Estrada or Trish Stratus in the job, because I feel that they have the ability to do the job. Wee-man, Letoya, and Jack are just a joke. I don't feel like they have the ability or mannerism's. If joe blow that was like one of the three of them, and wanted to be a reserve officer, they would be laughed out of the PD. I don't think because you are famous that you should be allowed to do what ever you want, and that is what the Producers are allowing in Armed and Famous.
I have worked hard in my life to keep myself in shape and learn the job. I want to be a full-time Deputy some day. I am just waiting on a position to open in my department. These 5 are just there to make fun of that job.
SORRY....I will get off of my soap box now. I know a lot of you may disagree with me...but that is why we all have our own opinions.

I'm listening and watching them now on Bob and Tom VIP. They said that Jack was good at the job.
I don't plan on watching but if it's on and I stumble on it I may watch some of it.
I grew up close to Muncie and feel the they are a bit different over there. One guy on my shift came from New Castle and said the the FD is a bit different.
I wonder how much they paid Muncie to do this? Just heard they gave 3 HUMMVES the the city. Actually Kristy Lee said it was 3 Hummers but then Erik said it was the trucks. [:D] When we first heard about this I thought it was going to make Muncie a laughing stock, I hope I'm wrong.0 -
Jack O is actually the most serious of them all. I'm highly impressed with the skill and knowledge he gained from about 2 weeks of training. Wee-Man is kind of hard to take serious but people dont really understand this point: They are acutal reserve police officers. They do deserve some respect by the public. The shows producer is the one to blame if the show is looked at as a mockery. I can tell you from experience that they are all acting professionaL. 0 -

Was their academy REALLY just two weeks long? WTH? When I went through my reserve academy, it was four months long.0 -

I watched it last night. It was entertaining. They said that their training was 3 weeks long. They all really appear to be taking their jobs seriously. As far as making a community appear "inbred"...well it is a "cops" show. It's really not a Cops job to go visit all of the upstanding members of the community for tea & crumpets.

In Indiana to be a Reserve Officer you must have the minimum of 40 hours of Pre-Basic class (laws, how to cuff, DT's, basic Cop stuff) and then 40 hours of Firearms.
Then if you stay with it there is more classes each year depending on your department.0 -

I watched a few minutes worth. Ponch seems to be holding up well.

I watched it tonight. Not much has changed about Muncie. Lived there for 3 years on Ball State student housing. Heck of a flashback remembering getting arrested , standing in front of the other tenants in my underwear only to have the cops actually look at the warrant at my request. right name, wrong address. 0 -

After watching the ads for the show, I decided I wouldn't like it. Thought it was funny when the girl was target practicing with the handgun it looked like she didn't have the wrist strength to hold on to the gun. Almost got away from her.[:D] She would of looked good with a pump knot on her forehead.. [;)] 0 -

I watched part of the first show. I was slightly insulted at the thought of a 3 week academy. I went for 16 weeks and that was 20 years ago. Then another 10 weeks of training after that and numerous investigator and interviewing classes after that. Heck, firearms training was 2 weeks by itself.
I would like to see some of them go into the woods at night after lost hunters or running behind a Trooper and a K-9 after a rape suspect bailed into a swamp. Or checking a wooded area looking for an ecaped mentally disturbed suspect that slashed 3 people. Or any of hundreds of other experiences I got to try over the years. Jack did shoot pretty decently but I didn't know what the range was. In my former department, we timed ourselves gettimg our guns field stripped and re-assembled. I think (because I didn't get to see all of our officers do it)I was the second fastest in our agency field stripping and reassembling my M1A (in 43 seconds) including taking off and putting on the front end of the combat sling. On my very first day on the job, I crawled under our Dodge Diplomat (piece of junk) to replace the wire on the nuetral starter switch after it got knocked off running down a backwoods trail. Later that evening I carried a car battery about a quarter mile or so after we caught a guy hunting deer with a spotlight in the middle of a section. The senior officers made me do it and got a big kick out of it. One of them razzed me about it for years.
Anyway, the program was kind of amusing to watch but to give them credit, I wish I had learned how to speak Spanish. It sure would help in LE. So would Russian or Arabic. It always made me nervous when suspects started to talk to each other in foreign languages, so I would usually just seperate them so they couldn't put a plan together to put the hurts on me.
You realize how little you really know when you get about 8 years on the job. That's when you start to be really effective. My thoughts...0
