The BEARS of elk camp. PICS

I have never seen so much bear sign before. Everywhere we went there was scat and lots of rocks and logs moved around. My father has an elk tag and a bear tag for this unit in October.

Super fresh pile of poo. I've noticed my compass makes it into many of my pictures...no I'm not lost...well not very often.

That is a 3-inch 12 gauge in the bottom of this print. That is a good sized bear for Colorado.

The above bear print was on the edge of this pond. It looks like he is going up and down the draw above the pond on a daily basis. I'll check on this one again in October.

Finally I was able get one on camera. I'm about 200 yards away. This little digital in not the right camera for the job, oh well.

    A friend of mine has called in bears almost every day he's been elk hunting this year...as many as 4 seperate bears in one outing. They are coming in to his cow calls.

    WOW! We had a coyote come charging in but no bears. If he would have some in about another 30 yards I would have given him a .50 cal welcome. I went back and tried to call him in a few days later properly armed with no luck.

    One time when I was moose hunting up in Nouveau-Brunswick, I was all quiet in my wood pile "stand" and boy did I hear a lot of ruckus in the woods. I'm all set when a bear comes waltzing out into the open. I just watched him go on his way. Afterwards I went over to look at the tracks and man they wee hard to find and I know exactly where he walked across a lumber hauling road in the woods. Funniest thing ... they have big paws, but ya need some mud like you had! Thanks for posting.
