Gun Show Participation
For those of you who attend or set-up at guns shows --- I have a question. Do you see a measurable decline in purchases (or sales) in the past several months compared to prior years? In Texas where I live, we have. Expect that it is attributable, at least in part, to the pinch caused by higher energy prices. Just wondering if the same is happening around the country.

No, I have not seen a measurable decline in sales.
Forgot to add... I attend shows all over the western part of the country (Washington, Oregon, Wyoming, Nevada, etc.)0 -
It seems that sales are always less during the summer. 0 -
Just attended a show in western Washington state. Elbow to elbow, lots of buying and selling going on. I haven't seen much of a drop off at all, maybe more activity.[:)] 0 -

If you are talking about the WAC show I also see no slowing down in participation.
In fact the WAC shows have been growing for several years.0 -
Yes, the WAC and others I have attended and vended at in SW Washington. 0 -
The Puyallup WAC show is my "home" show as well[:)], but I also attend the OAC shows in Portland, the Reno, NV shows, and the Cody, WY shows. 0 -
Just vended at the show in Amarillo this past weekend. Talking with a number of the other vendors with whom I am acquainted suggested strongly (as was my personal observation) that sales were down from the same time period in previous years. A decent number of attendees but mostly just browsers. The hottest items were the "junk" tables (caps, chinese knives, 3 for $15, etc.) and the "black rifle" parts dealers. Even relatively few of these were overwhelmed. May just be this area. Plus, they are likely having too many shows -- about one per month.
Ended up doing OK by trading with other vendors. Did not really make any $$$, but traded stuff for something that I wanted. Plus, it was a pleasant break from the grind of the office.0 -
I belong to a small club in SW Washington and most of the dealin' is done member to member, but there is still a fair amount of buyers, especially now that hunting season is coming up and people are getting the "itch".[:)] 0 -
I sold at gun shows for several years here in SC.I quit a couple of years ago because of slow sales but mostly because I dreaded spending my weekends sitting behind the tables listening to other dealers whine because they couldnt sell the over priced, same old stuff they had putting on the tables for years. Most people are not stupid and if they have seen the same old well worn Savage 99 laying on the table for the last 5 years and the price is still a firm $900.00,that should be a clue you may be asking a little too much. The best deals were between dealers before the show opened to the public. 0
